About Me

Hi! I am a recent college graduate who is looking to explore the world and meet, befriend, and understand all different people. I feel impassioned to do humanistic journalism that seeks to show the common humanity among everyone.

I know I am going to be a lifelong traveler with a desire to experience as many things as possible in this world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Throughout my travels, some of the greatest strangers I've come to meet have remarked to me how they do Couchsurfing, which was the first time I heard about it. My favorite parts when I am traveling is when I get to listen to some of the most thought-provoking insights from people from different backgrounds and perspectives. I see myself always as kind of a budget traveler for life. So basically, while I am new to Couchsurfing, I feel like it is perfect for me. Couchsurfing is exactly what I want out of my travels--I don't want to see all the tourist spots, but rather would like to get to know the people that live there by immersing myself within the communities.

Interests

Music (listening and playing--if you have any type of drum, I'm always down to jam out!), reading, philosophy, getting into deep conversations about life, exploring, learning about different cultures and customs.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music--Talking Heads, Jimi Hendrix, Radiohead, The Beatles, Vampire Weekend, The Doors, The Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, The Who, A Tribe Called Quest, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, etc--I generally like a lot of classic rock from the 60s and 70s, though I like alternative and some indie as well. I also love classic blues--Mississippi Fred McDowell, Muddy Waters, BB King, etc. Jazz, jam bands like Phish, Gnawa Fusion, Afro-Peruvian music are all great as well. I'm always looking to hear some great music!

Movies--Fight Club, Midnight in Paris, Come and See, Akira, Paprika, Spirited Away and other Miyazaki films, Moonrise Kingdom, good documentaries

Books--anything by Kurt Vonnegut (my favorite author), the Foundation series, A Brave New World, 1984, Catcher in the Rye, and so on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know, I built a mini-replica of the White House out of sugar cubes when I was 7. Needless to say, my views on politics have changed a bit since then.

I've opted to be a traveler and a writer rather than pursuing the "American Dream" of a 9 to 5 job.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have taught English multiple times in the past. I just generally like exchanging information, thoughts, theories, sentiments, whatever with people. It's how people grow.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A unique perspective on things, attentive ears, a gracious smile, and an always curious mind.

Countries I’ve Visited

Ecuador, Israel, Morocco, Palestine

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
