About Me

I'm not the type of person you meet at the disco or festival. I try to keep it calm and relax; have a coffee in the lounge, listen to jazz music and musical prose, talk about arts, poëets, writers, movies, and even stuff you like. i have a rather introvert personality but when i meet the right person i'm not shy at all. i just cant handle people who dominate their surroundings talking about themselves all night long. I was always passionate for music, mainly i played the guitar and pianos for most of my days but there's one more passion i share. I like woodworking because it gives me something to do besides writing and playing music and because there's no greater feeling than sitting on a chair created by your own hand and ofcourse at one point, this gave me the idea to make my own instruments too so, that's what i do. Building Flamenco guitars and sitting on home-made chairs, drinking coffee

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm trying to find a place to stay for several days in Lisbon because i want to get to know more about the Fado culture. I want to build two Fado guitars soon and because in Belgium there's verry little resources on this subject, i'll return to Lisbon where i coincidentially got submerged in the Fado culture several years ago. My second reason why i choose couchsurfing is because, when trying to get submerged in a culture, a hotel or hostel is the worst place to get connected with the locals. Allso because meeting people who are familiar with the city has lots of benefits.

Music, Movies, and Books

On this stay i am really trying to link in on the Fado culture, talk to Fado musicians, guitar makers, musea etc. I like the coimbra and lisboa Fado music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once went to Morocco totally unprepaired when i whas 18 years old.
No hotels, no transport, no money, no acquaintances.. two plane tickets and a passport.
I whas just 'wingin it', discovering another country which whas one of the greatest traveling experiences i ever had

Teach, Learn, Share

Learning what ever the Fado culture has to offer
Sharing a nice experience, interesting meetings that we might remember for a while

What I Can Share with Hosts

Ofcourse, Because i'm a Belgian, i'm obligated to bring loads of top quality Belgian chocolates. Besides people who can offer me a short stay in their residence will get updates on my work. When my work is finished i will return to Lisbon and (if host is interessed) meet up with them to show my work and have a nice Belgian beer.

Countries I’ve Visited

Egypt, England, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Morocco, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland
