About Me

Global cultures are my passion and teaching English is my vessel to live around the world. This has allowed me to travel both the US and the world living, learning and loving life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am currently moving about and, therefore, in places for a short amount of time.

Since conversation is a passion, I enjoy spending time with hosts learning about their experience and understanding their perspective.

While couchsurfing, one tends to stay in neighborhoods that would otherwise be unvisited which allows for unique insight into a city.

Interests

Walkable cities are ideal as they allow me to easily explore and make connections with strangers.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Baile Funk! After living in Brazil, I find it to be the most fun music to dance to. Outside of Brazil, it’s hard to find clubs that play funk but sometimes there is Brazilian parties.

Movies: Basically anything. I love the experience of going to the cinema. My favorite genre of movie is films you find and watch on an airplane. I find really unique choices on planes.

Books: The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo. Santiago's philosophy and journey match my own so the book is very personal and inspiring.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing 50 meters up the inside of a strangler fig in primary forest in rural Costa Rica.

A strangler fig starts as a seed dropped by a bird onto a tree branch and grows downward as a vine to the forest floor. Once it reaches the ground it spreads outwards growing around the host tree. The host tree suffocates, dies and disappears leaving a hollow space in the middle. This twisting vine shell allows for handholds and footholds to climb up the inside and peak out into the jungle around you.
