About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live vicariously through myself

ABOUT ME

There is not much to say, I am currently living in Morocco as a Peace Corps volunteer until May 2012. I live in a small village in the middle Atlas mountains called Zaouia d'Ifrane. My Village has direct access to the unique Cedar forest of the middle Atlas and is one of the most beautiful sites in all of Morocco, and perhaps is one of the most beautiful and unique places in the world. I am interested in promoting my village and community in terms of the eco-tourism project I am working on there so I figure hosting people can be a way of directly advertising to people. I have couch space for maybe two or three and then plenty of floor space. The only main problem is transportation in and out of my village, still it is worth the trouble to see what the site has to offer.

PHILOSOPHY

To speak English with people. I have no English speakers in Zaouia and I go days upon days only speaking Arabic with people, which is fine but I really like speaking English, so that is my personal philosophy, to speak English.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am not sure how the CS project is defined, but I am interested in using couch surfing to promote my town and Berber community and to share it with tourists who might otherwise overlook the village. Also I would like to help non-Moroccan tourists in terms of not getting ripped off and just to help them have a better vacation in this country and culture.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have successfully hosted and stayed with couchsurfers of all colors and creeds. I can dig it.

Interests

within my site: mostly hiking, backpacking and showing people around the town and the surrounding landscapes. Perhaps going swimming and hanging out. I also have decent camera equipment and art supplies, so maybe messing around with that stuff. The site is gorgeous but small, so if you are looking to go clubing this is not the place to come to, although I do love a drink of beer or wine.

Music, Movies, and Books

The good ones. Mostly American films, but I do enjoy a good art-house foreign flick from time to time, like... Au Revoir Les Enfants, can dig on Theo Van Gogh flicks too. Music- anything inspired by The Velvet Underground will be fine... Pavement. Sappho says- Raise high the roof beam, carpenters. Like Ares comes the bridegroom, taller far than a tall man.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was once in an amazing car accident and walked away without a scratch. Jeep flipped 6 times, my friend and I literally had no injuries.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like talking to people about landscapes and plants and things like that. I want to learn about landscape evolution, ecosystems evolution, general ecology and so on.
