ABOUT ME

Just living the Tao day by day - I love wilderness, movement, stillness and people who know which way is up.

In general I am a very chilled, low-stress person. Love to spend some time getting to know my host and just hanging out, but I also love wandering around a new city on my own so happy to stay with people who just have a couch free.

Generally not so much into partying and getting wasted - but always up for seeing new things and good conversation and excellent tea! I also love getting out into nature and playing outside, as well as exploring physical stuff with bodywork, yoga, tai chi, martial arts, qi gong, frisbee and all that.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm pretty sure back in 2003 I had a fairly workable Universal Theory of Everything. Sometimes I can still remember bits of it.

But mostly I just try to do right by people and get a bit more conscious, happy and loving everyday.

Books: Too many! From where I am sitting I can see - "Irish Sagas and Folk Tales"; some George Zebrowski Sci-Fi book; Jung's "Psychology of the Unconscious"; "Compassion Yoga: The Mystical Cult of Kuan Yin"; "Shadow Strategies of an American Ninja Master"; Jose Saramago's "Seeing"; and "Time's Up: An Uncivilised Solution to a Global Crisis", which was good in some ways but also really dumb in others.
Music: Really feeling the folk at the minute!
Film: Kurosawa, Japanese stuff in general, Bring It On (I love that film!), anything with superheroes in it.

I have seen a frozen waterfall in a crystal cave beneath the plateau in the Massif Central, France.

I have dodged infeasibly powerful explosives thrown by small children at the festival of the River Goddess in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

教，学，和分享

I have lots of academic degrees in the humanities, so I am highly trained in idle chat about the ways of the world.

More usefully, I do a bit of Thai and Japanese bodywork, plus Qi Gong, yoga etc. - happy to learn, give or teach!
