About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I learned a long time ago never to be so set on a specific goal that you forget to enjoy the peripheral things in life.

ABOUT ME

see below!

PHILOSOPHY

The Buddha once said, "Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I came to Spain to challenge my beliefs and my convictions. I came to learn a new way of life. I came to learn a new language. I came to meet people from all around the world. I think this project is an extension of those aspirations.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm living with a family in Barcelona for the semester. So basically I'm couch surfing for four months right now.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot of nonfiction but I've been trying to get into more novels. As far as nonfiction goes: Guns, Germs and Steal; Third Chimpanzee; Napoleon's Glands and Other Ventures in Biohistory; Blood and Oil; anything Chomsky. As far as fiction: 1984; Hemingway; Salinger; and so on and so forth. Music- I don't listen to just any crap. My favorite band is the Mars Volta. Also: Placebo, Q and Not U, underground rap like Immortal Technique and Sage Francis.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Starting a student rights advocacy group at my home university in the US when the administration decided to hire Boston cops to arrest their own students was pretty empowering. Also, scuba diving with sharks was pretty rad.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a huge history buff. I have my own political talk radio show so if you like talking politics then I'm your man. I like dropping knowledge. I'm one of those people that will bring up such random facts that they are virtually indisputable due to their obscurity.
