ABOUT ME

I grew up in Columbus, OH, but I have lived in several other states including Florida and Missouri. I have a personal connection with eastern Switzerland and Liechtenstein and speak Swiss German dialect from extensive time spent there, and have been overly occupied with related language and dialect studies there. I like fast cars and motorcycles, but I live a simple and inexpensive life. We live on 20 fairly remote acres and have goats, ducks, chickens, dogs, and a horse. We will be starting a significant garden soon. We are interested in alternative energy and are in the midst of putting up solar and wind energy at our place as time and money allow. We are interested in alternative construction, and plan to build a straw bale extension onto our small house.

PHILOSOPHY

We are all responsible for ourselves and have the freedom to choose how we react to anything that happens to us as individuals or in the world. So, be happy!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I want to have fun and meet interesting people while saving money whenever I have to travel and stay away from home. I would enjoy hosting anyone who would like to sample real rural America, and see some of the natural beauty in our area. There are few cultural things in the the small towns nearby, at least not in the traditional sense of culture.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to couch surfing! I have stayed with and made in-person friendships with online friends in other countries and locations and always had a positive experience and made lasting friendships by it.

Muzyka, filmy i książki

I love a good comedy because I love to laugh. I like classic rock and techno/trance and many other kinds of music. I enjoy reading, especially classic German language literature, but don't have much time to anymore! I've been pretty busy in the last few years.

I have a son almost graduating from college. He is quite amazing.

I have travelled at extremely high speeds in and on motorized vehicles under controlled conditions for a few years (SCCA racing and numerous motorcycle and kart racing clubs). I've been to Mexico City and the Copper Canyon in Chihuahua by motorcycle more than once, and other stuff like that. I've studied Swiss dialect long enough to speak like a native. I lived in the Philippines for 6 months in the 80's on a work assignment, and got to see some of the world I never expected to.
