About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to become a prolific irrelevant essayist and see the world.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in an extremely small town. I am one of the few who got out and saw a bit of the world and have been obsessed with seeing more ever since. I am an irrelevant writer looking to change the irrelevant bit.

PHILOSOPHY

Be peaceful and generous. If I have something to give who am I to keep it? I want people to be less possessive and more loving.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am looking for friends and a place to sleep. I really like the idea of a community where strangers are welcomed into people's homes and befriended solely on the basis of being peaceful and generous to one another. It'd be nice if more people were like that.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couch surfed with friends while on hard times both in the states and in Israel. I've also surfed with my girlfriend on her account in SE Europe.

Interests

writing, biking, drinking, cooking, new places, new people, and new experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music. doesn't matter what kind I just love it. As far as books go I like Thompson, Orwell, (not just "1984" and "Animal Farm," he has some fantastic memoirs) Vonnegut, Italo Calvino, Gabriel Garcia Marquez,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went wild swimming in the Red Sea. I thought that was pretty cool. I've also seen an Iraqi sunset which is often absolutely gorgeous. I always found that to be an interesting juxtaposition to the situation I was in when I saw it. Here is this beautiful sunset in the middle of a terribly tragic war. I also build floats for Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Let me tell you, riding on top of a giant whale through your neighborhood is an amazing thing to do.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a handyman of sorts. I can repair almost anything if I have a bit of time to look over the problem. I am also very good at living in poverty if anyone wants to pick my brain about that. I also know a good quick bread recipe that I would be willing to demonstrate. I just need bread flour, yeast, salt, and a covered casserole dish.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A smile, a meal, a joke, or a toke.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Montenegro, Qatar, Serbia, Turkey
