About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Right now, just to learn as much as I can.

ABOUT ME

I love real food, MF DOOM, and movement science. My coworkers make fun of me for spontaneous yoga/qigong exercises and stinking up the office with goat cheese and sauerkraut (not everything I eat is that strong, don't worry!). I have asparagus, potatoes, collard greens, and cabbages growing in my garden right now, and sauerkraut and kefir fermenting in the cabinet-- haven't started the cheese yet!

PHILOSOPHY

I follow my muse.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've just started surfing, but this site seems like a great way to meet some very interesting people! Staying with real people and seeing the area from a local's eyes versus staying at a sterile, impersonal motel is a no-brainer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't have much experience here yet, but I hope to change that.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Dune, The Pillars of the Earth, John Dies at the End, Movement: Functional Movement Systems

Music: MF DOOM, Mission of Burma, Boards of Canada

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Both times I saw Charlie Weingroff speak. He knows the human movement system like very few people do.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a lot of experience teaching myself how to eat and move well. I try to eat a traditional diet, as promoted by the Weston Price Foundation, and try to follow Michael Pollan's suggestion to not eat anything your great-great-grandmother wouldn't recognize as food. I try to move as those who practice Yoga, Tai Chi, and Eastern European weightlifting do-- by learning the science of how they do what they do. I'm not at a level where I can begin to teach others professionally, but I can explain the fundamentals and tricks I know to the best of my abilities.

Countries I’ve Visited

Italy, Spain, United Kingdom
