Overview
About Me
Okay then... I'm an open-minded, friendly, tolerant (blabla... :D) and hospitable Brit-Hesse hybrid (Hesse is that german area, where I lived and which I wholeheartedly appreciate).
I have recently (more like 5 years ago...) finished my ERASMUS exchange year in Reykjavík and figured out that Iceland is the place to be and studying here is what I want to do (again... 5 years ago :D). So I finished my master studies in "Environment and Natural Resources - Specialisation: Renewable Energy - Energy Economy, Policy and Sustainability" in this gorgeous place. Currently putting that knowledge back into the academic world as a research associate for energy system modelling focusing on the Southern African power system (ask me about my research initiation trip to Botswana and Namibia).
I have figured that life is more than going through an education system and then having a job. It all makes more sense, if you find your very special meaning of life.
Mine is continuous learning and being a goof.
My - lets say - mission in life is to be part of the change into a sustainable future.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really enjoy travelling. It's a great thing. I would really like to travel and get to know places from a locals point of view. That is something, that I have missed on my last few travels.
For me traveling is learning and I bet I could learn so much more by sleeping on local peoples couches. ;)
Interests
Meanwhile I'm a mechanical engineer and it's really great fun for me to build or repair stuff. I like anything that challenges me, that makes me think hard. :D
I would call me a pretty creative/constructive person.
One thing that has interested me for quite a long time is climate change. There is quite a lot to be done to reach the UN's goals in this field and I'm going to be part of the change into a sustainable future. My current studies at the University of Iceland are all about this kind of stuff and I totally love what I'm studying.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Vök, Hundreds, Coldplay, Chillstep...
I enjoy many kinds of music and I'm always looking out for great artists.
Movies: There are so many great movies out there. I was really fascinated by "Gravity".
!!SPOILER ALERT!! Apart from that horrible non-physical scene in which George Clooney gets pulled away by this mysterious force. That really gave me the creeps. Such a great movie finally ruined by a hideous mistake in one of its key scenes! Still "Gravity" has absolutely gorgeous shots and is gripping til the end.
Books: Unfortunately I've got plenty more books on my "to-read-list" than I have actually read in the past several years, but in the "old days" I read quite alot.
On my to-read-list are: Stanislaw Lem - "The Star Diaries" and "Eden", Douglas Adams' - "The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy" (read that many years ago, really love it)
It seems that I like any kind of spacy stuff that makes me drift away.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
->Gazing at the Namibian Sunset in the Kalahari Desert.
->Being surprised by the magnificent beauty of Diamond Beach at Sunrise in Iceland.
