About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be a sponge for new experiences and knowledge, and soak the world in :)

ABOUT ME

I'm an Australian-raised Iraqi-born video game developer. My current mission is to see as much of the world as I could, and am loving what I've seen so far!

People would describe me as sociable, relaxed and dependable. I'm also hands-on: If you need help clearing out a shed, or need a quick stir-fry whipped up, you have yourself a volunteer!

My personal interests are all over the map, and I believe it reflects my innate sense of curiosity. This above all else is what drives me: I want to see more :)

PHILOSOPHY

One thing I learned over time is that the most sure-fire way to happiness is doing right by others. So far, it's worked out pretty well for me. Not that I'm working for Amnesty International! It's the little things that make all the difference:
If I enjoyed a meal, I let the cook know.
If I like your jacket, you'll hear about it.

But most importantly, if I see someone needs to talk, I'll take my time and listen to them. The little things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I'm looking for a place to surf at (my first!), so I'd love to get in touch with any nearby hosts to meet up!

I'm also keen on any attending Couchsurfing meetups.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was first exposed to couchsurfing back in Auckland, and I can honestly say that the crew there was the most diverse, lively and interesting group I've met there.

Though I never participated formally (neither surfed nor hosted), hanging out with fellow expatriates was immensely enjoyable, and was a potent homesickness remedy :-)

Interests

Sightseeing:
The best way to learn about a city is to hit the pavement and wonder about for hours at a time. I love getting immersed, letting the city surprise me on its own terms.

Video Games:
I'm an escapist. And to me, getting lost in an adventure, any time I wish, is why I love video games. And no, I don't play Call of Duty :P

Comics/Drawing:
I've loved drawing for as long as I could remember. I used to draw all day and always had ambitions of becoming a cartoonist (still do!). I've slowed down lately, but if you want to see a dinosaur eating an orange, or a pixie riding a dragonfly, I'm your man!

Museums/Galleries:
One of the first things I do when I visit a new town is check out the museums.
A couple of weeks ago I visited the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. It was astounding! From Rembrandt masterpieces, to 1/6th-scale warships (they're huuuge), to the massive interior itself: I was in awe.

Novels:
I'm not a hardcore reader, but when I get into a book, a little 'wasted my day'-guilt dissipates. I try to read the classics, so as to increase the likelihood of chatting to someone about them (oh and they're classics for a reason :D )
