About Me

I'm a laid back person who loves to discover much of what life has to offer ... be it nature, history, cultures, the arts, wildlife... and last but not least, people. At my own leisurely pace, I love to travel to make my dreams come true. I'm happy to accept guests when I'm not travelling (which these days, is rather often).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Life's short but wonderful. I think meeting like-minded people from all over, is a great way to discover different cultures and lifestyles. It broadens one's horizons, and contributes greatly to the travel experience. CS is an excellent way to do this.

Interests

When I'm not travelling, I spend lots of time with family, friends and my pet, a very independent rescue cat who was harassed by lots of local folks when she was a stray kitten, just because she is black :( . One fine evening, she strode into our living room, curled up and went to sleep. That's how she adopted us, and she's been with us ever since. We call her Bhageera. Other than that, I love to listen to music. I enjoy photography and creating artworks, which, if interested, you can enjoy at https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/sue-j.html . Some of my favourite art I/ve done, are whimsical paintings of animals and birds of all kinds. I enjoy potterimg aroiund and doing some light gardening as well. I like to have fun in whatever I do...

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Elvis, The Doors, Country, Rock, Pop
Movies: Ice Age, The Queen, Forrest Gump, ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm proud of myself for having sponsored these things for a specific underprivileged family in my city :
- Financing a mobile telephone and regular top-ups for the woman of the family, Sumita
- Financing a set of dentures for Sumita. Also, I accompanied her to the dentist's and sat with her, for each of her multiple sittings to extract teeth etc. She was terrified of the process, and appreciated my moral and physical support.
- and various other things to improve her life in small ways (for example, teaching her how to use a cell phone. Her own family members were too busy to teach her).
And all I had to do, to make this happen, was to cancel my plans for one trip :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy sharing any knowledge that I'm fortunate to have. Learning languages is one of my passions, and I'm happy to teach any that I know well... and I'm also happy to spak any language I know, or I'm just learning... mistakes and all :))

What I Can Share with Hosts

My travel stories, feelings and experiences... What I've loved, and may be not so much too... My own culture, history and traditions... And my personality and personal opinions too (if interested :)
