Overview
About Me
Hey there! 👋
My name is Sudhanshu Kumar Yadav (SKY), and I’m a 18-year-old college student from Uttar Pradesh, India.. Currently, I’m pursuing my college degree, but deep down, I’ve always been a traveler at heart — someone who feels more alive on the road than in a classroom.
This is not just a bio — this is my invitation to share stories, laughter, and culture with you through Couchsurfing, a platform that I see not just as a way to find free stays, but as a gateway to new perspectives, friendships, and experiences.
My Travel Philosophy
I believe traveling should be:
Budget-friendly
Sustainable
Human-centered
I don’t believe in "tourism" — I believe in connection. That’s why I avoid commercial places and prefer to stay with real people, learn from them, and live like them.
I’m also inspired by Nomad Shubham, a young Indian traveler who showed me that even someone from a small background can explore the world.
What I Value Most
Kindness over comfort
Learning over luxury
Connection over convenience
I don’t smoke, I don’t drink. I believe in respecting local traditions, helping whenever possible, and leaving a place better than I found it.
Thank you for reading about me. I know I’m new here, but I come with open hands and an open heart. If you decide to host me, you’re not just giving me a place to stay — you’re becoming a part of my journey.
Looking forward to meeting you somewhere in this beautiful world!
Warm regards,
Sudhanshu Yadav
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To me, Couchsurfing is not about cheap travel — it’s about real, raw, and human travel. I’ve always been fascinated by people — how they live, think, cook, speak, love, and grow. Hotels may give you a room, but a host gives you a slice of their world.
I'm on Couchsurfing because:
I want to meet people who live differently than I do
I want to learn from locals, not guidebooks
I want to give back — whether it’s sharing my own culture, cooking a meal, or helping around
Also, this is my first solo trip, and I truly believe that the kindness of strangers can shape it into something unforgettable.
Interests
Gardening and farming — I help my family with farming back home and I love gardening
I have a small garden with over 15 fruit plants — each one personally planted and nurtured by me.
Flute practice — I’ve started learning bansuri and find peace in melodies
Filmmaking and storytelling — I want to show India to the world from a ground-level view
Waking up early and starting my day with gratitude and nature
I believe in slow travel. I’d rather spend one day with a local family than tick off five monuments in a city.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
I enjoy soft instrumental music, especially Indian flute (bansuri) — it helps me relax and focus. I also like simple Bollywood songs with meaningful lyrics and sometimes local Bhojpuri music that reminds me of home.
Movies:
I love movies that inspire travel, simplicity, or real life — like Into the Wild, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Tamasha. 3 Idiots. Anand and Swades. I also enjoy light comedy and emotional family dramas. I don’t need big effects — just a good story and feeling.
Books:
Reading is something I’ve grown to enjoy. Some books that really made me think are:
Atomic Habits (for self-discipline and growth)
Sofie's World (a beautiful intro to philosophy)
Gunahon Ka Devta and Deewar Mein Khidki Rahti Thi (for deep emotions and human relationships)
October Junction (a touching Hindi novel that stays with you)
Books help me understand life better — one story at a time.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
"I’ve been cooking since I was 10 years old — from making simple rotis. sabji. chawal and daal to helping in family meals. Learning to cook at such a young age taught me patience, creativity, and how to take care of others — even before I truly understood what ‘responsibility’ meant."
"Now, I love cooking simple Indian dishes for friends and guests."
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach:
I can teach basic Hindi, Indian village life skills, and how to cook simple Indian dishes like chai, roti, and halwa. I also share what it's like to grow up in a rural part of India and live a minimalist lifestyle.
Learn:
I want to learn about different cultures, local lifestyles, languages, and especially how people live simply and happily in different parts of the world. I’m curious about cooking styles, farming practices, and travel experiences.
Share:
I love sharing stories, food, and experiences. I can share my travel journey, the warmth of Indian hospitality, and my deep respect for simple living. I also enjoy sharing real, raw conversations — the kind that stay with you forever.
What I Can Share with Hosts
While I may not be able to offer expensive gifts,
I come with:A big smile and respectful attitude
