About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Being a global citizen and eating my way across the globe. =)

ABOUT ME

Random Things About....

Last year, along with over a hundred people, I hithchiked to Paris to raise awareness (GO CS!!!!). The cause was hitchhiking and how it opens doors and crosses borders. There is a certain beauty in the trust and willingness to allow strangers into our lives and our cars. I've met so many wonderful people doing this that I would have never met otherwise. And I am even more thankful that they trusted me -a perfect stranger. I got held up by immigration when hitching across to the UK.

Three philosophies I try to live by:
a) Life is too short for regret.
b) Live every moment to it's fullest.
c) Don't knock it till you try it.

I love food, and drink, and cooking, and potlucks, and wine tastings, and beer factory tours, and picnics, and generally anything involving food.

I enjoy rock climbing. I enjoy team sports. I used to fence. I like to kayak. I don't like being competitive.

Love traveling.

Love open-toed shoes.

Love to laugh.

Love my friends.

Love dogs.

Love where I am.

PHILOSOPHY

Live and let live.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

FREE HUGZ in Munich 2008! (Which was amazing.) Everyone was so sweet, friendly, amazing, open-minded, and just awesome.

I surfed Italy! It was so amazing. Even though I was traveling sola, I never felt alone because I was meeting my next host friends in the next city. =) CS also allowed me to see the side of Italy that was not covered in tourists and hawkers, and allowed me to meet so many more people on a more personal basis. My hosts and their friends were so amazing for letting me into their lives. Thank you!

So far, I have surfed the following countries: Italy, France, England, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany, UK

I went to the Berlin Beach Camp, which was so much fun! All the surfers there and people were so amazing and everyone was a traveler. Loved hanging out with all of you. Hope to see you again sometime. =)

Hosted my first surfer! What a sweetheart. Good luck on your journey. =)

So far, have hosted:
Yuliya from SLO
Sietskes from Belguim
Natalia from Brazil
Emer from UK
Sylvia from Spain

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Grand Canyon. Yes, it is very Grand. And it is also a canyon. =)

Scuba-diving. It was so scary at first and I had a hard time getting under the water, but the hardships made it even more amazing. (See picture of Fred, the Fish)

Hithchiking. It's amazing how much kindness exists and how good people are to each other. =)

Teach, Learn, Share

Love to cook. Could talk about food for hours.

I love cooking for and with my hosts. It's such a great experience to share our cultures through food. I cook good "American" food.

I have also learned some amazing recipes from past cs experiences and we can share these too. =)

I can teach you basic Chinese! We can learn to speak Mandarin! And I can show you how to write the numbers 1 through 10.

I can help with math. If you need any tutoring, I can help tutor you (and your kids!) I have a degree in math and science.
