One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Setting, doing and completing a goal to hike 10 mountains in South Korea, in a year. My friend and I had lived there already for a year and we wanted to challenge ourselves for the 2nd one. The whole process was an incredible feat - organising people and all the travelling involved. Finale was an icy/snowy sunrise hike to see in the New Year 2013!
In the same year I also hiked Mt Fuji, Japan, with a couple of friends. It is, single handedly, the most challenging and exhausting hike I've yet to do. We decided to do it overnight to save time and money, so lack of sleep and headlamps were a big factor in the difficulty level. I cried, literally, with relief when we finally made it. The sunrise that followed made it all worth it though! Not sure if the others agree! Proceeding to travel after the descent to Osaka (for Summer Sonic Festival - Sigor Ros, Death Cab for Cutie, Foster the People were major highlights) via local trains was a bad idea...>_<
Seeing Ryuichi Sakamoto was also a big highlight of 2012. He played a rare concert in Seoul, South Korea. The whole concert left my friends and I speechless. 'Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence' has always been and still is, one of my favourite pieces.
