ABOUT ME

I used to run a business networking organization in Orlando...
at our height we had 26k on email and nearly 5000 registered members.
...so I help people get connected for business purposes.

I live with my husband, Chris, who is a commercial truck driver, and works odd hours. Depending on your length of stay with us... you might only see him a bit... but if he's here... he'll cook you some great food.

PHILOSOPHY

If anything can go right... it will. Life is one big "Karma Bank" ... you get out of it what you put into it. So make sure your contribution is fun, positive, passionate and designed to leave the world a little better off.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've had several couch surfers stay with us now! Such NICE people you all are!

We've had a young Frenchman who was hitchhiking around the world... 7 years total so far. He was going to stay for just a few days but was such a great guest we were happy he could extend. Come back Fabrice!

Also... had a nice couple from Tallahassee that were in town to learn how to swordfight... their hobby was being extras in movies so we got some "behind the scenes" stories about the Walking Dead.

Our last two surfers were the "Couch Singer" Shawn... who calls himself "voluntarily homeless" as he is retired and has spent the past several years couchsurfing 24/7 in Japan, France and the US. He has already been back a 2nd time as we asked him to help housesit while I was out of town. Shawn is an entertainer, does jazz and Sinatra genre, as well as some acting. He's a super great guest so send him a friend request! (Shawn Paris)

and then Miles... a super handsome young Chinese man who has been in the US for the last 5 years on a student and work Visa but who will have to go back to China in January. We hope he can come back to the US in the future... but are excited to have a new friend in Xian, where the famous Terracotta Soldiers are located.

Interests

Very eclectic. Love motorcycles, music, wine, food, theatre and interesting experiences.

Lots to do in NE Florida... when the weather is nice boating along our beautiful St. Johns river is the best way to see the REAL Florida.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Honestly, it's NOT travel related... but the most amazing thing was a bee colony that was moving to a new location and had stopped temporarily near my office. This HUGE mass of bees in this tear-drop shape with a circumference of about 4 feet and about 3 feet from top to bottom. I stuck my arm in the mass of bees up to my elbow. It felt like electric velvet.

Other cool thing... I let a baby llama chew on my hand for about a half hour (he was teething I guess), and the inside of his mouth was so soft... like non-electric velvet.

Oops... I guess maybe there's a trend here. As you can tell I like "critters." I do have pets... currently 3 friendly cats but our neighborhood also has friendly Peacocks!

Teach, Learn, Share

Both Chris and I are pretty good cooks and love to share a nice meal and a conversation. Beyond that I'm a wealth of trivial information and have spend all my life in Florida, so know the state well, along with some of the more fun things to do.

What I Can Share with Hosts

When WE are CouchSurfing (which we haven't done yet), OR when you are visiting us, we would love to cook for you. Both my boyfriend, Chris, and I are excellent cooks and we love to share a meal and wine with friends.

If you are hosting US... we would love to treat you to a day or meal out in your city... or we'll take you along sight seeing as our guest! We would love for people to share their favorite places with us!

For OUR GUESTS: We have an historical home built in 1911 that is shaded by a huge oak tree and Spanish moss. It has 6 bedrooms and we do AirBnB out of it... BUT, when we have an empty room, we welcome Couch Surfers too!

The TV room has a big screen TV hooked up to Netflix and Amazon.

We are walking distance to Palatka's downtown and Riverfront and we have a couple of bicycles you are welcome to borrow. There are about 5 restaurants within that walking distance.
