About Me
Hi there! I’m Su, a South Korean traveler searching the world for the place I might one day call home.
I grew up in Daegu, Korea’s fourth-largest city. For university I moved to Seoul, where I studied linguistics, literature, and anthropology and spent eight lively years in a city of 10 million people. As much as I loved its energy, I longed to escape the constant hustle. After graduation, I set off for a working-holiday year in Ireland, and Dublin quickly became my beloved second home.
That golden year inspired me to keep going. I spent eight months solo-traveling through Europe and Africa—still one of the best decisions of my twenties. In 2018 I began another long journey: a year in Australia, followed by months exploring Southeast Asia until the pandemic hit. Later I spent a year in Gothenburg, Sweden, and traveled through the Balkans for three months. After that came a year and a half in New Zealand, living in my van and exploring every corner of the country. A few months in the South Pacific followed, and now I’m back in Europe, house-sitting full-time and exploring the UK.
I’m not a big party person, but I do enjoy the occasional night out and a good drink. Through Couchsurfing I’ve met many amazing people who left lasting impressions, and I look forward to meeting more.
I love camping, hiking, cycling, swimming, scuba diving, learning languages, savoring tea or coffee with cake, discovering local cuisines, and spending time with animals—both pets and wildlife. I support local activists and value inclusivity. While I strongly oppose prejudice of any kind, I can still share a pint and a conversation with anyone willing to engage respectfully.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Back in 2013, I spent a month traveling across Russia on the Trans-Siberian Railway. It was my first time using Couchsurfing, and I was fortunate to meet wonderful hosts who welcomed me with open hearts. Through CS, I formed lasting friendships with people who are both enthusiastic and sincere about life. Couchsurfing inspired me to give, share, and show up as my best self. Every couch I’ve surfed has left a beautiful imprint on me.
Interests
I believe that gaining new experiences is one of the most important parts of life. I love those moments when people share their passions—what excites them and what they truly live for.
My interests include long-distance hiking, local street food, languages, woodworking, cycling, swimming, scuba diving, and Thai boxing. Recently I’ve also discovered a love for climbing and bouldering.
I’m doing my best to live a low-waste lifestyle and to make mindful choices every day.
