About Me

Hi! My name is Sujin, but I listen to Su as well. I would love to write that I'm looking forward to meeting you, but that's a bit tricky. I guess it's more accurate to say that I'm looking forward to meeting locals, like you!

What about me? I'm the one who's always in for something which involves good talks, food, or going outside. 11 months in a year I'm busy with spending the days as effective and enjoyable as possible. According to Seneca, time is precious. He wrote in Letters to Lucilius: 'What man can you give me who puts any value on time, who counts a day, who understands that he dies daily?'

The awareness of time and fleetingness can evoke all kinds of questions: who am I, what is important to me, what do I have to do? These questions around meaning-making are most of all the domain of spiritual care.

As a researcher, I investigate the purpose and outcomes of spiritual care at home. What kind of questions do people have when they face existential issues like illness, earthquakes, or burn-outs? How can we improve the support?

When I'm not at work, I love to do sports, play piano, read books, binge-watch series, visit friends and of course: go on holiday. So I decided to take every year at least one month of holiday and travel around the world to meet new people and learn something about other cities and cultures. Above all, it's a break from routines and a way to reconsider how precious time is.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting the countryside in China and meeting locals was definitely one of those. But publishing my first edited book or scuba diving at 30 meters depth was amazing as well.
