About Me

Hello everyone, my name is Sulecca! Su-lake-ah ;D. I'm originally from Minnesota, the really, really cold Midwest state right below Canada. I went to a Spanish / English immersion school for 9 years k-8, unfortunately I understand it better than I speak it now, because I haven't had as many opportunities in recent years to make use of it. I took Japanese in high school all 4 years, studied a year in college and studied abroad for a year. So I'm more confident in that right now and can teach a thing or two if you're interested! I really enjoyed my time abroad and traveled to South Korea several times since as well, I now have friends all around the world!

I'm very family oriented, love kids, I have lots of younger cousins and now I have a nephew who's 2 yrs old and is the center of my heart. I don't have pets, but we have had them in the past. It may take me a second to acclimate if you have a very large or aggressive dog, but I do love them. I have a degree in fashion design and went to school for computer science and criminal justice.

I am a really positive upbeat person, loves to explore, have fun new experience meet new people, but be safe doing it. Photography, reading, writing, dancing, music, movies, art, fashion, hiking, indoor rock climbing, oceans, mountains, natural formations like caves, But just talking, hanging out, and learning about someone is really nice.

I love sharing with people from other cultures, in and outside of the US, since there are so many people living within the states with so many different backgrounds. I would love to learn a few words in another language, hear about your experiences, recommendations or do something with you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about couchsurfing about 3 years ago when I was studying abroad in Japan from my French roommate Emma. She did it to travel around Asia, I admit that I was skeptical, but she had a really great time and met some amazing people. Knowing more about the system I really want to give it a try. I want to expand my experiences, meet new people, explore new cultures, travel to places I've never been before, and start new adventures, but be safe and economical while doing it. Having a roof over my head is very important of course and this way I get to make some great connections.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love basically all music, pop, rock, upbeat music is the best, rhythm and beat you can dance to, but also enjoy classical. Music in other languages, even if I don't understand what they're saying, emotion and tone really speak to me. I enjoy most movies, I tend to stray away from romance and comedy, but do enjoy them when I watch them. I really enjoy action and fantasy, Terminator 2 is my favorite! I enjoy dramas, older shows, anime, documentaries, not as interested in reality shows. Books, I love them, read them pretty randomly tend to be fantasy or technical information heavy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I studied abroad in Japan and it was one of the most amazing experiences in my life. Going abroad to a country so different from your own is eye opening. I met so many amazing people not only from Japan, but all over the world who I keep in touch with. Expanding my knowledge on the language and culture was so rewarding. I learned so much about myself in such a short time. Found out I loved nature, natural formations like caves, hiking up mountains, and just traveling in general. I expanded my pallet on food and made lifelong friendships.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experiences, whether my study abroad experiences in Japan, travel throughout Korea, or my hometown in MN. Any advice if you're looking to visit any of those places. I can teach some English if that's not your first language or Japanese if you're interested in that at all. I can understand Spanish better than I can speak it at this point though. I always enjoy sharing my stories and learning from others about the world and their cultures. I keep things clean, never leaving a mess, if there's anything I can help you with just let me know!
