About Me

Hello everyone! はじめまして。

I'm Suli, a curiuos, a little bit crazy, honest, warm- hearted and harmonic person and I love to laugh a lot. Travelling for me is not just having fun and doing some sightseeing- even tough I also like this part! who doesn't? :D But for me, traveling also means to go out of my comfort zone, to clear my mind from all the expectations I have concerning a certain destination and see how it really feels to be there.

My father once told me a Zen- story of a university professor who went to visit a famous Zen master. While the master quietly served tea, the professor talked about Zen. The master poured the visitor's cup to the brim, and then kept pouring. The professor watched the overflowing cup until he could no longer restrain himself. "It's full! No more will go in!" the professor blurted. "This is you," the master replied, "How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup?"
As you might have noticed, I am very interested in Zen, but also in martial arts and Japanese traditions. That's why I decided to travel to Japan, I feel like I came in touch with the Japanese culture so many times, so I already have a picture of how it might be to live in Japan. But now I have the opportunity to forget everything I supposed to know and see how it is really like :)

So, from March until the middle of June I am going to travel through Japan together with my boyfriend Lukas. We decided to just grab our tent and sleeping bags and see if we can follow the traditional paths of martial arts and buddhism. As we both practice Ninjutsu, we would love to meet some real ninjas, hehe :) or just drink some tee with you, guys, if you are willing to tell us some stories about your country and yourself!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to hear stories from people coming from all over the world, to get to know other cultures, to share experiences and just to have fun with others- it is always enriching to get to know people who are different from oneself :)

Interests

I love to meet people, to dance, make music together, read good books, make art. Get to know new places, travel, walk and walk 500 miles until I will arrive where my horizon ends :)

I practice Kick Boxing, Ninjutsu, and other martial arts, sometimes I do rock climbing or go to a boulder house, and also horseback riding is what I have been doing since I was little. But I am open to try new things, maybe to learn how to prepare a traditional recipe or whatever someone can show me!

Just interested in the world, with all it's beautiful and terrible aspects because that's what makes it unique. I love to discuss everything that comes to my mind, and I think that we always have the opportunity to change something for the better :) even if it is just our own life!

Music, Movies, and Books

Uhm that's difficult to say! Well, one of my favorite books is 'Siddharta' from Hermann Hesse, and also 'The art of hearing heartbeats' by J.P. Sendker or 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' by Robert Piersig...

I like listening to melodic techno, old school hiphop, jazzy beats or german rap

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I ascended a volcano of 3750 meters, it's the volcano "Lanín" in Argentina. We started during the night to climb up the remaining meters to get to the top and had breakfast at about 3000 meters above sea level while watching the sunrise. What a stunning view!
