Overview
About Me
Hello! I’m Sumona — a friendly, easy-going and jovial person from India. I’m here because I want to step out of a routine life and experience something new. I love seeing new places, meeting local people, trying traditional cuisine and learning about the “unknown”. I believe the best way to understand a place is through its people and their stories.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To explore the world in an authentic way — through nature, local food, architecture and, most importantly, people’s personal stories. I genuinely enjoy listening to other travellers and learning from their experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books (non-fiction on history, economy, geopolitics & self-help), travelling, cats, good food (spicy *and* sweet), sleeping, calligraphy, music and astrology.
Also: I have a pet cat named **Coco** (ragdoll) — she is literally the heart of our home, and cat videos are my ultimate stress-buster!
I’ve studied a bit of anthropology and completed a 6-month Spanish course — I’d love to improve my Spanish and learn about interesting cultures around the world.
I’m not a regular cook but I *can* cook Bengali dishes, and for other Indian food I happily consult YouTube. (And yes, I make sure it turns out well 😄)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve done anything amazing yet — maybe that’s why I’m here. I want to create those memories now.
Teach, Learn, Share
I’m currently learning **calligraphy**, **Esraj** (Indian bowed instrument) and **astrology**.
* I’ve already completed **three forms of calligraphy** — Faux, Brush-pen and Bubble — and I’m continuing my journey with other styles.
* I had *no* background in music (neither vocal nor instrumental), and one day I simply decided to learn. I saw an advertisement from Ramakrishna Mission (Bose House Campus) and enrolled in the **Esraj course**. I hope that with dedication I’ll be able to play it well someday.
* A few months ago I developed a strong interest in **astrology** and I’m currently learning it online from my Guru.
👉 If you are interested in any of these, I’ll be happy to share whatever I’ve learnt so far.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good conversations about books, geopolitics, travel or cats, a bit of Bengali culture/history, and hopefully some home-cooked Bengali food!
And if anyone is curious about calligraphy, Esraj or astrology, I’d love to share what I know.
