Hello everyone! I am Sunny from Taiwan. I used to work in an international nonprofit based in Taipei, focusing on humanitarian and development work. Last year, I quit my job to pursue my dream of traveling around the world. I’m a solo backpacker and I’ve been on the road for more than one year to places including the Balkans, South America, and Antarctica. I am now back in Asia and plan to explore countries in the West and Central Asia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The more I travel, the more I realize how much I enjoy talking to people, and Couchsurfing gradually became my favorite part of my journey. I learned so much from all the people I met along the way, and I am extremely thankful for the energy and love they shared. This is what I like the most about Couchsurfing.

Interests

I am a person who can't live without the ocean and sunshine (though Taipei is a city that often has bad weather). I have also been into scuba diving since I got certified during my exchange term in South Africa.

Recently I became really into hiking after returning from a spectacular hiking trip in Yunnan (China), and I am planning for more this year. Being alone and surrounded by the mountains is one of the best thing I know so far.

I listen to almost all kinds of music, yet prefer indie rock and dream pop. I love to go to music festivals with my friends to get to know new bands. As for series, my favorites ones are The End of the F***ing World and Fleabag.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Jumped off Bloukrans Bridge in South Africa, the highest commercial bridge bungee in the world (216m)
- Backpacked to cities in South Africa and joined an amazing 12-day camping adventure in Namibia
- Solo backpacked in South America
- Taking a gap year from work to solo travel around the world

I can share backpacking tips for traveling in Asia. I have been to many Southeast and East Asian countries, either as a solo traveler or traveling with friends.
