Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Suno! I love nature and enjoy exploring local cultures through meaningful interactions. I believe the essence of travel lies in connecting with local people, learning from their experiences, and understanding their way of life—rather than just sightseeing and checking off tourist spots.
I’ve always had a passion for outdoor activities like hiking, river tracing, and diving. In nature, I always feel like “I’m home.” I also enjoy spending time with children and pets, although I’m prone to pet hair allergies.
I have over five years of experience leading outdoor education programs for children and youth with special needs. Through diverse outdoor challenges, I guide them to develop teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and self-care skills. My courses range from one-day events to month-long adventure therapy sessions.
In 2023, I went to Japan for a work exchange at a family-run B&B near the Sapporo Ski Resort, where I had the opportunity to live with the Japanese owners and experience their culture, especially the significance of hot spring culture.
About my partner Peggy: She worked as a teacher for two years at a rural primary school before pursuing a master’s degree in counseling psychology. After completing her professional internship, she became a licensed counselor. We both have strong empathy, open minds, and a belief in the power of kindness to attract like-minded people around us.
Current plan: My partner, Peggy, and I are currently doing a working holiday in Australia. We’ve worked on a private horse farm, in a vineyard, and at a fruit and vegetable packing factory. After finishing our work in Mildura, we plan to move to Tasmania to experience its natural environment and local life.
We’re not party animals, and we don’t smoke.😊
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My first couchsurfing experience happened while I was walking solo around Taiwan.
On that trip, I carried all the gear on my back because I had just graduated from college and didn’t really have enough money to travel long distances , so I wanted to try if it is possible to complete this trip with the least amount of money.
I would say this was definitely one of the most challenging decisions I have ever made, and because of that, it just provided space for magic can happen and made my trip a more diverse experience.🥳
During this trip I met many new people through couchsurfing. Under the guidance of the host, I also had the opportunity to see some beautiful scenery that only locals know, and taste the local life and local food.
After this amazing journey, I also became a Hosts and hosted some travelers, but I always used FB as a platform.
This is my first time to register as a Couch Surfing member , because I will start my working holiday journey in Australia with my partner.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite books are "The Little Prince" and "The Alchemist" , and the book that moved me most when I was a child and thus had a huge impact on my life was "Nobody’s Child"
I prefer soft music and independent music , and I avoid to listening metal or other loud music because it will makes me feel uncomfortable. Of course, it’s okay to be there and listen at rare and important celebrations.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think this was definitely my experience interning in Mauritius.
I grew up in poverty, so I never had the opportunity to go abroad, especially to a place so far away from Taiwan. I had the opportunity to start this journey is because of a government overseas internship scholarship during my college.
I had to fly alone, sleep at the airport late at night, then transfer to another plane by myself, and finally arrive at the local area. This was a huge challenge for me who could't speak English and had never taken a plane before.
When I first entered the workforce, I experienced a long and huge culture shock.
I had to deal with racism and discrimination against sexual and gender diversity in my work team because the locals didn't speak English, so I had to figure out how to quickly learn the local language in order to communicate with them, which was a huge challenge for me It's a challenge.
But it was also during this period that I grew up a lot. I broke free from the shackles of Eastern culture and education, learned to work hard to express my needs, and defended my rights clearly and bravely. I also gained some experience in the process. The care, warmth, kindness and support of the many guests at the resort who come from all over the world.
It was the most uncomfortable time I have ever experienced in my adult life, but it was also the time when I grew the most and fastest.
Looking back now, I am very grateful for my bravery at that time and all the efforts and progress after that. For me, it was really the biggest challenge I have ever chosen.
Teach, Learn, Share
We can teach you how to write Traditional Chinese, how to make Taiwanese food, and anything else you want to learn that we know how to do.
We hope to increase our language skills through lots of daily conversations with native speakers. Currently our English is not very fluent and correct. We are also very interested in the culture and life experiences of different countries and want to learn and experience everything, especially outdoor activities.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We can share our amazing travel, work and life stories , and if possible, we would also like to cook a Taiwanese dish for you.
