To be a globetrotter extraordinaire. Meeting as many interesting, like-minded people along my journey as possible. Actualizing my world citizenship one step at a time.
Writer/ artist/ singer-songwriter living in New York City. My life's passion can be summed up in three words: I LOVE MUSIC! I worked at both major and independent record labels and have been a music journalist for the past 8 years. Finished a two month stint in Brazil in late 2013 (and again in 2014) where I traveled to various cities along the coast. Life-changing experience. You can read about part of my experience here:
Since 2009, I have embarked on a variety of photo-based art projects. One of them was recently on exhibit at the Brooklyn Historical Society and was praised by the likes of esteemed scholar/ documentarian Dr. Henry Louis Gates and Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor! Read and listen to NPR's feature story on my project here:
In addition, I'm a teaching artist with a youth arts non-profit organization and am certified to teach English. Currently bouncing around, so I'm not able to host. But I'm always open to meeting people with a good sense of humor and a zest for life! I'm very much into learning about new cultures and open to new life experiences! Feel free to contact me for more info!
The world is so vast and rife with experiences. Why stay confined to one corner of it? It is my personal objective to expand my cultural and social horizons and gain a better understanding of the world we live in.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hosting and surfing with the best of the best! Learning and teaching as much as I can during my hosting and surfing experiences.
First experience: stayed with a friend in West Philadelphia in a fellow Couch Surfer's spare room. Came to town to help canvas during Barack Obama's first run for presidency. Wonderful experience!
MUSIC, MUSIC, and MUSIC!! I love to read, gather facts about history, writing, singing/ songwriting, hearing new music, meeting new people, going new places.
Music, Movies, and Books
Trainspotting, The Matrix, The Color Purple, Network, The Parallax View, Pressure (dir. Horace Ove), Life & Debt...and too many others resting on my hard drive to mention!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Trekked through a country solo for two months with only a basic understanding of its language.
Teach, Learn, Share
Knowledge is as much about the acquiring as it is about the dissemination. Each one, teach one!
