Overview
About Me
I'm an English teacher from Uruguay who would love to see the world. (I write in English because it's more likely that everyone in this community understands English better than Spanish).
I love animals more than anything else, that's why I'm a vegetarian with the dream of one day being able to become a vegan, and I volunteer at an animal shelter.
Appart from animals my other love is languages and lingüistics. I find the phenomenon of language fascinating, mostly grammar and phonetics.
Then, my next love is nature. I enjoy long walks through mountains, rivers and ocean shores, basically any kind of natural landscape.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because I'd really really like to travel more often and get to know other cultures, people from different countries, who speak different languages, who can show me different music, literature and art.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love many kinds of music, but mainly academic (classical, opera, etc). Although I like modern music as well. This year I discovered the world of Icelandic music and I fell head over heels in love with it.
As for books, I enjoy science fiction; my favourite writer in the whole world being Arthur C. Clark, and I'm also an avid reader of historic novels, including historic fiction.
Regarding movies I like any movie that makes me think. Exactly like books. I like an insteresting story that develops through the movie. Preferably without shots, explosions or fights, as I believe they're unfortunately most of what Hollywood produces nowadays.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I found five abandoned newborn kittens many years ago and I raised them into happy and healthy adults. That was my first amazing accomplishment, one of which still lives and purrs happily after 15 years.
My next big accomplishment was overcoming lots of fears and insecurities by traveling alone on my first camping backpacking trip to Torres del Paine as a celebration of my 40th year of life.
Teach, Learn, Share
A veces hay que dejar que la vida desacomode lo que está mal acomodado para que todo pueda volver a estar sobre sus pies.
And learn to pick your fights. It's an art you have to perfect, to know when to give in, and also when you should make yourself heard. You'll save yourself a lot of unnecessary headaches, but you'll also learn to be kind to yourself and listen to your own needs.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Walks through their city and surroundings, my language, Spanish, which I'd be willing to teach, and theirs, whcih I'd be totally interested in learning.
Countries I’ve Visited
Argentina, Brazil, Chile, United States
