About Me

I love to find the off-the-beaten-path experiences in a place that you can't find anywhere else, or that you wouldn't think to look for. I am more interested in experiences than sights or souvenirs, and I'm drawn to the strange.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to get a depth of experience when I travel, not just the tourist-level. I want to know what's real, what's strange, what's hidden, what's unexpected, as well as what's unique about everywhere I go. I often travel alone but that doesn't mean I don't want to meet people! It also helps out when I am traveling on a tight budget, which is always.

I hope that someday soon I will have a place where I can host people as well; however, for now that's not possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love oldies/classic rock and contemporary folk-rock. I'm currently going through a David Bowie & Patti Smith phase, which may or may not ever end. I say my favorite novel is American Gods by Neil Gaiman and my favorite movies are Fight Club and Pulp Fiction, but the truth is I could never pick accurately so I just have to pick one I love and say it. Every time I try to start a list of other must-mentions, I can't make it end. Feel free to ask, though!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Entering the Mayan underworld at Actun Tunichil Muknal in Belize was one of my favorites. Also waking up and pulling the cloak from my face to stare at the ceiling of Caerphilly Castle.

Teach, Learn, Share

Yes, please! I am working on learning Dutch and embroidery most actively, but hope to learn a lot of unexpected things by traveling.

I'm still figuring out what I can teach. I can certainly explore the constant question of what a dramaturg does, share some freegan and couponing tips, maybe help out with English.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Conversation, adventures, stories, experiences. My perspective and an interest in yours. English skills? Editing? Research? I love sharing the things I love (music, books, movies, etc.) with other people and recommending things based on what they like. I can cook a bit, and am glad to help out wherever I can. I can hand-sew. I'm a great extreme couponer and bargain hunter in the US, but in the process of figuring out how to transfer those skills to the nomadic life in Europe.
