About Me

After having lived in several other places (eg Amsterdam) I’m back in my hometown now and loving it. I fled Amsterdam because it’s become too crowded and touristy, even though I still love the city. Utrecht is more authentic and it’s so pretty.
I have my own practice as a psychotherapist and hypnotherapist in the woods outside town. But I sometimes practice from home as well.
I have traveled the world and still like to travel, but nowadays I also have a place in the South of France where I like to spend time (and could welcome couchsurfers there too).
I love going to concerts, going on nature walks or walks around town, swimming, yoga and crochet. I have a lovely fireplace where I love to spend my winter evenings with friends or alone.
I’m a single mom with a 22-year-old son (studying and living in Amsterdam).
I have always lived my life the way I wanted, in my own way instead of just following the herds. I’m an out of the box thinker with a big sense of humor, an even bigger curiosity and an inquisitive philosophical mind.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music from all over the world, it can be soul, jazz, african, r&b, hiphop, french, anything. The last concert I went to was Khruangbin.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Backpacking through Asia for 5 months with my then 9 year old kid.

Switching careers and starting from scratch when I was 41.
Around my 40th birthday, in 6 weeks time, both my parents and a good friend died of cancer. I decided then to live my life bearing in mind that I could be next, started working on my bucketlist which included the above backpacking trip and learning a whole new profession. It was scary and for years I felt like a failure - just studying and not knowing whether I would succeed, not making a living. At parties when people askied me: “what do you do for a living?” All I could say was: “study” and watch people loose interest instantly. Being single, no job, an adolescent struggling child, I had nothing that proved that I was doing anything right.
But I just kept going, following my inner voice and it all turned out great. My son has completed his transition and is happy and studying in Amsterdam. I’m succesful as a therapist with a waiting list and am now even teaching other therapists and I love my life.
