Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
follow through with my PhD thesis :-)
ABOUT ME
I'm a lively and outgoing Austrian PhD student (Applied Lingusitics) and also work as a language teacher in adult education. I am energetic and inquisitive, though sometimes I enjoy just curling up on the couch and relaxing with a good book. I am easily enthused and love discussing things...I speak English very well (since I studied it at university) but would love to improve my Spanish...:-)
PHILOSOPHY
'stay hungry, stay foolish'
'think for yourself, don't ever stop asking questions.'
'expect nothing, try everything' :-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm still kind of new here...
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
none as of yet...that is, not via this website.
Interests
music, reading, discussions about anything and everything, culture and intercultural contact, human rights, just hanging out with friends...don't know whether that really belongs into this section but I love brunch :-) Breakfast is too early for me (I'm a night owl) and lunch doesn't have the kind of great food...so year, brunch with friends on a lazy sunday is great. :-)

Music, Movies, and Books
Critical thinking is really important to me, so I try to look at everything from as many possible angles as I can. Generally, I think that talking to people is the only way to retain the ability to be creative, to think critically and outside the box, which is one of the reasons why I enjoy meeting different people and discussing pretty much any and everything with them. Music is also really important to me. I guess any style of music can be appealing to me as long as I feel the musician expresses real feelings or interesting thoughts...
There are also some books that got me thinking or that I just really enjoyed - 1984, Brave New World, The British Museum is Falling Down, Lord of the Rings, Drauszen vor der Tuer, Solitaire mystery, Jane Eyre, Frankenstein...and some movies: Thank You for Smoking, Into the Wild, The Joneses, American Dreamz....
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a year abroad (which felt like the craziest thing today at the time when I had to board the plane and leave my friends and family behind ;-)); I spontaneously decided to go to the US for the summer...what else, I fired a rifle (after needing half an hour of instruction...and managed to still miss the target: an empty can); I decided not to study music at university; I hitchhiked through Scotland...and camped (sheesh, it was sooo cold!)...
Teach, Learn, Share
We all view the world through a lense shaped by culturalisation and sozialisation...the only thing we can do is become aware of this fact and understand that our thinking is never free of bias...
