About Himachal Pradesh:
Himachal Pradesh is a state in Northern part of India with borders of Jammu and Kashmir on the north. On the west and south-west, there lies Punjab. The south eastern part is bordered by Haryana and Uttarakhand. Similarly, it is bordered by the Tibet Autonomous Region on the east. The state is in the western Himalayas encompassing an area of 55,673 kilometres. Being a mountainous state, Himachal Pradesh has an elevation that ranges from about 350 m (1,148 ft) to 7,000 metres (22,966 ft) above the sea level.
Himachal Pradesh is bestowed with rich scenic beauty. As it is located in the lap of Himalayas, the state has been named as Himachal Pradesh.
Presently, Himachal Pradesh is the third fastest growing economy in India. The economy of the state is based on three resources: hydroelectric power, tourism and agriculture. It is basically a Hindu state with approximately 95% of Hindu population.
Both rivers and glaciers form the drainage system of Himachal Pradesh. You can find Himalayan Rivers across the entire mountain chain. It is an interesting fact that the rivers are older than the mountain system. Both the Indus and Ganges basins get water from Himachal Valley.
Himachal Pradesh is also known for its world renowned religious and pilgrim places such as Jwalamukhi, Nainadevi, Tara Devi and many more. Besides, you can enjoy trekking in the valleys of Kullu and Manali. Many tourists from across the globe comes to Himachal to visit Kullu Valley, Manali, Lahaul & Spiti, Kangra Valley, Parvati Valley, Khajjiar, Shimla, Kinnaur, Renuka Ji, Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Kaza, which are some main attractions of tourism.
