PHILOSOPHY

I want to enjoy my life, enrich it with as many experiences as I can make and meet people on the way of life where having me in their life made a difference.

I believe no good deed will be punished, though it might take a long time to manifest.

I experienced that decisions taken under pressure and a rush are usually wrong, so finding a place and people to relate to with regards to these issues, even if they are maybe mere strangers, helps a lot in the decision making process, which is why I try to be a good listener (though I have to sometimes work a bit on the "give support" part).

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I enjoy hosting people and learn about their live and culture. On the other hand I am travelling a lot as well, so meeting locals in the places I go is a great thing couchsurfing offers. It also reminds me of the days back in the student organization where we practiced couch surfing a lot or now with regards to our Lindy Hop Exchanges.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Only pleasant experiences so far. Had the joy of hosting people from three different countries and having awesome evenings with them and great chats.

I think what I enjoyed most was talking about their place and their experience (though I am a lover of my city and could go on and on about it's beauty), especially when they are from far away!

Interests

I am interested in different cultures and how they relate, including politics and economics. But that's only part of me, though one which might interst couchsurfers more.

My passion is Lindy Hop and West Coast Swing, in other words: dancing. I do it as often as time permits and travel at least around Europe for workshops and weekend long parties.

Other than that: Badminton, though I am a lowsy player (in comparison to the good guys I know out there....)

Music, Movies, and Books

Any???.... Long list.....

Musik: Swing. Jazz. Pop Music you can dance west coast on, Vocal Trance from the beginning of the millenium (it turned bad now...), Pure Vocal Groups, Tori Amos and the like. Maybe I should have just stated that I don't like Techno and Heavy Metal :-)

Movies: I enjoy a rich plot in movies, though I usually stay clear of horror and some thrillers. I adore Tim Burton and his movies, Nicholas Cage is usually a sign for great fun as well. Edward Norton and Kevin Smith (Dogma), it really varies.

TV Series: Anything from Aaron Sorkin, especially "The West Wing", Battlestar Galactica (for it's philosophical backgrounds in particular) and sex and the city (though not desperate housewifes).

Books: I got into audiobooks and really enjoy them. Especially of late anything from Walter Moers, in particular if read from "Dirk Bach", and yes, non german speakers: Bad luck.... Apart from that Neal Stephensons work. I guess the occasional business book should not count here :-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelling across the Atlantic ocean on the Queen Mary 2 was definitely an experience, especially leaving the harbour in my beloved Hamburg.

Teach, Learn, Share

Dancing. At least Lindy Hop and to a lesser degree West Coast Swing, unless you are an experienced dancer yourself.
