About Me

We are Suzanna and Dale. Couchsurfing has been such a positive experience for us… we’ve been practicing home sharing all our lives with people we have met traveling, it’s great that there is now a platform online. We are older than the typical Couchsurfing community, but we are adventurous travelers, young at heart, and enjoy being with people of all ages… We are liberal and accepting people and we love making new friends.
We love hosting as much as we have enjoyed being hosted.
I was raised by world travelers, traveling has always been my passion. I grew up an Army brat, living mostly between California and Germany. I became a Navy wife when I married Dale, who is from a small town in Illinois near Madison Wisconsin. We have been together almost 40 years, and have four grown children and two grandchildren.
We are at a stage where we have no obligations, and it's our time again to travel the world! We are very good house guests, and would be honored to make new friends while learning about where you live.
We would also love to show you our lovely little town of Poulsbo. We are usually here May through October.
You can be in downtown Seattle via bus and ferry in an hour. We have two guest rooms and one is almost always available. We would love to meet you and support you on your traveling adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We love meeting new people! It's the very best part of travel. We stay in hotels and airbnbs and rent campers when we travel, and recently have been housesitting in Australia and New Zealand. We enjoy staying with friends most of all and Couchsurfing has brought us many friendships. We also really enjoy having friends stay with us. We love to host travelers but have not had space over the summers recently. We plan to accept guest May-October 2025. Our photos need updating..

Interests

We both enjoy traveling and adventure, good company, hiking, , and movies. I listen to fiction audio books every day. Dale prefers reading and is more into non fiction and podcasts. He likes to work on old cars and our vintage camper. He's also into cycling and music . I enjoy cooking and arranging the flowers he grows in our garden. We created our lovely yard and garden during the pandemic after it was a wasteland for many years. We both enjoy dancing, especially in the kitchen at our house! We like hanging on our deck and sitting in the hot tub … We are 420 friendly, and weed is legal in our state… I enjoy drinking, though very moderately these days, Dale gave up alcohol years ago. We really enjoy having people visit

Music, Movies, and Books

Blues
Rock
Country (good old fashioned country, not contemporary)
Jazz
Everything but rap, hip hop and very heavy metal !
Neil young, Willie Nelson, Joni Mitchell, John Prine, Bonnie Raitt, Led Zeppelin, Sierra Farrell, Townes Van Zandt, Gillian Welsh, Nanci Griffith, Steve Earle, Johnny Cash, Kurt Vile, Gram Parsons, and so much more… Oh, and all the old music of my parents generation dean Martin, frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney. That’s what we love to dance to..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

How could there be only one thing? I am still best friends with the same two women for over 50 years, we haven’t lived in the same states for the last 30 years, but we are still sharing our lives and loving one another.
I went on a camel trek through the Sinai dessert with bedouins, slept under the stars around a campfire, and snorkeled in Sharm el Sheik.
I’ve been lost in Toledo Spain, again and again and didn’t care one bit.
(I highly recommend it)
Most importantly, I've loved well, and been well loved. I've been helped by so many people, and I’ve helped others. I try to teach others what I taught my 4 children; If you are kind everything else you do will be alright. And, what's really important in life?
What really makes the whole world go around?

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help you to redesign your home to look and function better using what you already have. (Professional organizing/home staging business for 15 years) I can arrange flowers and teach floral design. I'm a great cook, and can make a meal using just what you have on hand. I'm great at “rustling something up" to prepare a meal . (Russell is my maiden name, and it’s a family trait)
I love to feed people, organize anything, and mend clothing. Dale is a great teacher and can share skills on handyman work and minor car repair.
