ABOUT ME

I left work after 25 years of lecturing to meet people and travel a bit. Have developed a non-wasteful lifestyle(am writing about it). I am a spiritual person but don't belong to any particular group - lean towards Buddhism. Have stood as candidate for elections in London for the Green Party for over 15 years (expert at losing elections!!)
Born in tiny island of Mauritius, went Ireland to study (some science, some medicine, Drama and literature); worked in a theatre for 5 years then studied film/photography in London. I now like to teach myself (philosophy etc). I am very easy going and relaxed (most of the times!). Hasten to add I'm not a dogmatic/professor type of person - the opposite. Love to share ideas and exchange views over a glass of wine or cup of tea. I absolutely love cooking for others (vegetarian - French/Indian/Chinese).

PHILOSOPHY

Care and Consideration for others. If we are going to share this planet (or global village) then we have no choice but to be kind and considerate. Sometimes has to be worked at.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just joined CS but belong to WWoofers - have an old house in France where we grow organic vegetables. WWoofers come and stay and help.
I like this sense of community and like to show people around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have always stayed with friends, friends of friends, members of ecological groups and environmental orgs and very distant relatives in England, Ireland, Mauritius, Holland. AS mentioned, have put up woofers etc .. new to CS in the official sense of the word. But very used to putting people up in Ireland, London and France and Mauritius.

Intereses

Reading, music, lots of cooking (European and exotic foods), travelling (while aware of my carbon footprint), gardening (except when back problems..), chatting and exchanging views and love it when local people show me around the "off the beaten track" rather than the worn out tourist trail.

Música, películas y libros

Love European old and new, some Hollywood and the many new international films from South America, China and India ... I don't suffer the "before my time" syndrome - I watch and listen to very old and very new and everything in between. Love 'classical' and some operas; love 60's and 70's British pop/Indies (and some new ones as well); traditional Irish. Great admirer of Joyce, Beckett, Chaucer, Milton and Shakespeare; Moliere and Corneille but also love reading cheap thriller novels an some Romance.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Brought up (with my ex-wife) four wonderful children. Watched them grow and experienced lots of sharing of views and ideas (and lots of challenges)..

I absolutely love to hear other people's ideas (exchange of views). I love learning about other cultures. I have an insatiable appetite to see how people live their lives and cope with day to day from all corners of the world. What people get out of me: how to make appetising food on next to nothing, philosophical and practical notions of environmental living, caring, sharing and being. Thoughts on culture/ society/ music ..
