Chi sono

CURRENT MISSION

To see around the next corner, and then the next, and then the next...

ABOUT ME

I'm a ginger from Michigan who relocated to Alaska to attend UAF. Immediately thereafter I volunteered on North Island Brown Kiwi research in Middle Earth... err, New Zealand! I used to be considered a quiet person, but actually I think my 10 months of life/travel in New Zealand helped me open up!

Puppies (dogs) are my drug of choice. What else do you need?

I love travel but hate goodbyes, which makes meeting people both fantastic and sad.

3 favorite pieces of outdoor gear?
backpacks, tents, and sleeping bags
**I'll happily sleep in a sleeping bag rather than normal bedding. It just makes me happy!**

PHILOSOPHY

Even though lots of people tend to think careers are important to find early in life, I have very little idea what career I could possibly jump into now. I have a degree, but I don't want to settle down and get stuck in a place. World travel is amazing because of the people you meet, the experiences you make, and the sights you see. Why limit yourself to a tiny section of the whole world when it's out there to be explored? True, money is important for funding said travel, but once the funds are there, why not break out and see the world?
The funny thing? I really quite dislike change.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I may be able to host, but it really depends on the season and whether I'm in town. I live in a dry cabin, which is quite common for Fairbanks. That means I don't have running water, and going to the bathroom means going to the outhouse. It's a rather small cabin, but the futon downstairs opens up into a second bed.

High Bluffs on St. George Island, one of the Pribilof Islands in the Bering Sea!

Walking 20K along North Mavora Lake near Fiordland, NZ from 20:00 to 00:00... my backpack, the stars, and me.
