Factfile: Born and brought up in Assam/Guwahati primarily, studied engineering in Bombay, worked for software firm for 2 years in Bangalore/Chennai, did my MBA from Kolkata - worked as an investment professional in Bombay, currently working as a development consultant

PHILOSOPHY

Here we will talk about the family as you will be hosted by the entire family - We believe in learning by meeting people of various culture, interests, background, nationality etc. While reading, listening to music, watching movies have got its own worth, but we think that there is nothing as enriching as talking to the people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Till now me and may family have only hosted couchsurfers and intend to continue to do so.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Has been very enriching for the entire family to learn about different cultures and people. Have hosted only 2 couchsurfers as the number of requestts and couchsurfers traveling to this part of the country is very few.

With Terence from USA: Terence was our first guest. I think we initially very formal with him, but then later opened up very well. Everybody loved to talk to him and share about ourselves. Unfortunately we could host him for 1 day as we were also figruing out how to be a good host. But next time Terence you are most welcome. Tai from Vietnam: This time we were much more confident and hosted Tai for 3 days. Was an amazing learning and sharing experience for the entire family.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: We watch Hollywood, Indian and World Cinema from a diverse range.

Books: Every member has his or her own choice - Fiction, Non Fiction, Magazines, newspapers, coursebooks, religious books, encyclopedias etc. Few members read a lot on the internet

Music: Again differenct have different choices (mostly Indian) - popular, classical, bollywood, Ghazals, hymns and chants, qawwali etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Between the entire family we have done several trekking, picnics, international travel to several countries, have traveled almost the entire India.
