About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live, love, learn, and sometimes, laze about, but never alliterate.

ABOUT ME

I am a finishing my third year as a grad student in biomedical engineering at a joint department between UNC Chapel Hill and NCSU in Raleigh. I love to dance, especially all kinds of latin and swing. If you met me you'd describe me as over the top and silly. I love a good pun or a corny joke.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Have a comfortable place for traveling adventurers to crash on their journeys.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted several CSers, and it's been really cool to get to know people from all. I've also met people through the CS community and have gone out and had a great time with chill people.

I have yet to surf on someone's couch, but grad school grounds me here... for now!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania a few years ago. My parents were in the peace corp in the 60s, and on their flight back to America my father saw the volcano from the airplane. He said to himself, "I'm going to climb that one day." When he turned 60, I thought he had given up on that dream. I bought him a National Geographic book for his birthday, and that was the inspiration he needed. He said to himself "Screw it, we're doing it."

We made plans for me, my brother, my sister, and my father to fly to Tanzania in roughly one year from then. Over the following months we all trained, and my father began sleeping in a hypoxic tent to get acclimated to high altitudes.

It was one of the most difficult things I've ever done. If you'd like to check out an account of our trip, go to my father's personal webpage!

Also, feel free to contact me with any questions you might have if you are thinking about braving it yourself!

I lived in Haiti for a few months when I was 18, staying at an orphanage for boys. An experience that gave me a great deal of perspective in life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a competitive ballroom dancer. Want to swing? Salsa? Tango? Or just shake it? I love it all!
