Hi! I’m Michael — born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland 🇨🇭 with a mixed background (Swiss + Arab roots). I'm currently based in New Haven, Connecticut, conducting PhD research at Yale. I moved to the U.S. in February 2025, so I'm still in the process of discovering this huge, wild country, and build meaningful connections and friendships along the way.

I’ve also lived in Colombia for 4.5 years 🇨🇴, which really shaped my love for Latin American culture, people, and rhythms. I speak English, French, Spanish, and a bit of Arabic.

I’m easygoing, clean, respectful, and always happy to contribute — whether that’s cooking, listening, helping out around the house, or just being present and engaged.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first signed up on CS a long time ago but was never really active on it 🙈. I have decided to become an active member now that I recently moved to the US because I believe that travel should be about people — not just places 😊.

Some of the most meaningful moments in my life didn’t happen in famous landmarks, but in someone’s kitchen, on a late-night walk through unfamiliar streets, or during quiet conversations with strangers who later became friends.

I am here to create connections with people by being simple, generous and real. I don’t see it as just a way to save money, but as a way to stay human while moving through the world.

I don’t expect luxury, just warmth. And I try to bring the same — in how I show up, how I listen, and how I share space.
