About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To find out who I am as an individual.
ABOUT ME
Well, coming here was a bit of a short notice surprise. I literally had 2 weeks to put in my notice at work, pack, say my farewells and leave. I've been keeping a journal ever since I found out I got the job to be an Au Pair for 3 German children. I'm 22 now (June 17) and am loving who I have become. I am continuously thankful for this experience! I will be in Germany as an Au Pair until next April. Time has already flown by!
PHILOSOPHY
Be yourself! If/when you realize you are or have tried to change yourself for someone you should open your eyes, I did. We are all gifts to this world, no matter what beliefs you have. Enjoy the life you are living, or make it better!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I want to be able to show newcomers to Germany the culture. I know a bit of the language and am continuously learning more by experience.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I haven't been couch surfing yet, but intend on surfing with my friend Kaylee who is also an Au Pair.
Interests
I love a good movie that can make me laugh out loud...Even if I'm the only one laughing. Laughing in general interests me. I like making people laugh and think it is also a good ice breaker. I enjoy green tea and occasionally coffee. Chocolate is of course wonderful, especially in Germany! I love sunbathing and swimming. Being in a pool is like being in my own world shut off from outside distractions.

Music, Movies, and Books
I really like Michael Buble as a singer. There are plenty more I like, but too many to list. My favorite movies are of all genres. You already know I love humor. Love stories are good too. I used to really like scary movies, but now they just freak me out. lol
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, getting a job in Germany is pretty amazing. I never thought I would have the guts to travel to an unfamiliar place alone and stay there for a whole year! This is by far the most momentous thing that has happened in my life! I look forward to meeting many more people and developing friendships in this year.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love diversity. I have a prosthetic leg and have had it since I was a little baby. I had a deformed left leg that made my tibia and fibula short and curved. My foot was turned outward and only had 2 toes. The docs had to amputate. Throughout my life I knew I was me, not an amputee or some weirdo. I was Julia. My difference has made me who I am. I am confident that I can do whatever I want to in life. I was blessed with a loving and supportive family. No matter who you care about, let them know. My father died at the age of 52 from his first heart attack. I was 16. Love those in your life as if it were their last days...or yours. So much has happened in my life that I would wish my dad could've experienced with me. Your life is a gift! Treat it as you would your most prized possession (though your life should be that anyway). Explore, take chances (smart chances), meet new people! Try anything (or almost anything) once.
