Overview
About Me
My name is Sydney, and I’m dedicated to public service and strengthening communities through meaningful engagement. I studied History and Studio Art, academic pursuits that broadened my perspective on people, cultures, and the connections between them. Though I was only a farmer for three months in Wainai, Hawai‘i, that brief experience taught me the value of honest work and respecting the natural rhythms of life.
Outside my professional endeavors, I love experimenting in the kitchen, finding comfort in sharing good food with others, and I’m grateful for the companionship of my poodle, Benjamin. My approach—whether in public service, personal projects, or day-to-day life—is guided by curiosity, empathy, and a belief that even the smallest interactions can foster greater understanding and positive change.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For the next year, I am embarking on an incredible journey as a travel researcher, diving into the topic of global human flourishing.
I recently graduated from Vanderbilt University and was honored to receive the prestigious Keegan Travel Fellowship. This fellowship, awarded to just four students each year, is akin to the Fulbright program but uniquely self-directed. With the support of the university, I am fortunate to travel to destinations of my choice to explore a topic close to my heart.
