About Me

CURRENT MISSION

getting to know myself

ABOUT ME

Constantly trying to be statisfied with who I am, finding out what I'm not and what I can become

PHILOSOPHY

"... there is no greater joy, than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun."
- Chris McCandless -

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It all started in Paris. Learning French for almost a decade now (with unsatisfying results), I thought to myself "Shame, girl! You haven't even been to the French capital!" So it was settled. It also happened to be my very first solo trip and I wanted it to be special. I heard about Couch Surfing before due to my flat mate who used to host people on a regular basis.
So, I wanted to find out for myself what's behind all this.
I signed up and started planning my trip. I was overwhelmed by the responses I got. Even though people didn't had the time or space to host me, they would still meet up or just tell me places where to go. For example where to find zzzzzz beeest lemon tart in town (still dreaming about this massive piece of delicacy…)
This experience really showed me that even if I'm on my own, I'm never truly alone. No matter how far from home.
All it took was leaving my comfort zone :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Since there are so many amazing films out there, both old and new ones - here's only a few of which I like quite a lot:
Into the Wild, Exit Through the Gift Shop, Requiem for a Dream, The Good The Bad and the Ugly, The Gods must be crazy, Forrest Gump, American Beauty, the Help, Fried Green Tomatoes, The Vengeance Trilogy, Searching for Sugarman, Stranger than Fiction, Garden State, Happiness, Pusher, Grand Budapest Hotel, Pan's Labyrinth ...

Music I am currently listening to:
Lykke Li, Kakkmaddafakka, Alt-J, The Beta Band, Modest Mouse, Manu Chao,
Rock, Alternative, Indie, Deep House ... sometimes I can't even distinguish what kind of music I'm listening to, but I think that doesn't matter at all as long as it makes you feel something :)

One book that had quite an impact on me was The Solitair Mystery from Jostein Gaarder. After I've finished it I just smiled from one ear to another for the rest of the day
Walden - Henry David Thoreau
The Art of Loving - Erich Fromm
.......

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent a night with two homeless guys just listening to their stories.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can already learn a lot from each other by just listening, being curious, open minded and friendly.
Share our values and views rather than to force them on others.

I like to share stories, a cooked meal and a bottle of wine (or whatever booze there is :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

a good laugh

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, England, France, Ireland, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Namibia, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, South Africa
