I am a French guy, who lives in Quebec (Canada) since 2 years for doing a PhD in Game design / Psychology (about emotion induction in abstract video games).

Couchsurfing is a good opportunity to travel, meet, share and help people.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

Two things :

- I am a foreigner in Canada, so I have a big apartment to accommodate my visiting family and friends, but most of the time it remains empty (except myself of course). I like the idea to help travelers, and especially I like the idea that this system is not a buisness. Currently, I haven’t put my apartment available because I do my PhD Comprehensive Exam and therefore I don’t have enough time to receive you, but if you cannot find someone else don’t hesitate to ask me anyway.

- I am a PhD candidate, which means two things -1 - I sometimes give lectures all around the world (the best part of my job) -2- I am not very rich (the worst part of my job). Couchsurfing saves me the hotels costs that are always very expensive.

I love meeting new people, actually I think, I'm very curious, and what I like more than anything is what I don't know.

兴趣

As I said, I like to discover new things, I like talking with people even when I am not agree with them.

I love learning, making videogames, politics, playing music, digital art, traveling, cooking, dancing ... Many things. I will never have enough time with one life to do what I love.

音乐、电影和书籍

Strange as it may seems, it's a really private question for me, but I'm still trying to answer it.

Movies :
Wrong cops ; Fight club ; Hotaru no haka ; Scarface ; Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind ; Gran torino ; Romeo+Juliet ; Star Wars ; My name is nobody; Serial experiment Lain (it’s not a movie, it’s an anime, but it’s certainly the most important thing I've seen). I stop here because the list would be endless.

Books :
Outside of psychology and game theory books (both are my job), I don't read a lot of novels but from memory, 3 books was very notable : Le pavillon des cancéreux (Soljenitsyne), Les souffrances du jeune Werther (Goethe) and extension du domaine de la lutte (Houellebecq).

I also read a lot of comics (really a lot), American comic book, bande déssiné or manga; my favorite authors are Bilal, Yslaire, Taniguchi, Otomo, Satrapi, Sacco, Ware …

Music :
In fact, I'm a fan Dead kennedys as much as Lady Gaga or Aphex Twin. When I was a teenager, I only listen Metal hahaha but I have learned to appreciate many style of music, so I listen both of Punk, Jazz, , Soul, Electro, Rap (rather French rap because otherwise I don't really understand the lyrics), pop music too (I like dancing even if I did it wrong).

Actually, it is easier to say what I don't like (or not yet) 1- Funk , 2- Reggae, that's all.

What !!! I’m supposed to share something ! :-)

So, my sofa bed in the living (very comfortable and I can add an extra mattress if you are more than two (rather uncomfortable by cons), and obviously my bathroom and kitchen with place in the fridge.

I can teach French (kind of 101 at least), or also English but it's possible that you will be better than I'm. I can teach the basics of programming (woow so fun), and things called Game Design (my job). I can also cook, I don't promise wonders but I love cooking.
