Hey there, I'm Sylvi from Finland. Currently I'm back in my home country, Finland, living in a cozy apartment with my boyfriend Aleksi in Helsinki city centre. I've been moving a lot; last winter I lived in Jaipur and last summer in Prague (loved both, gotta get back to India and to Czech Republic too!)

I'm passioned about yoga, nature and outdoor activities, climbing, sustainable lifestyle, volunteering and interesting stories!

When I’m visiting a new place, I can spend the whole day just walking all around. I’m curious person and I’m extremely interested about day-to-day life. I'm kind of a bad tourist: never really wanna visit the main sights, just wanna wander around and have a cup of chai/coffee/tea/whatsoever with new people. On my mind the best way to get to know new city is to get lost.

"I am the guy Sylvi shares the apartment in Helsinki. If you going to be staying with us, there is a high probability that you will get to meet with me even more often than with Sylvi because she has a pretty busy work/life schedule most of the day, while I am quite frequently working from home.

Currently I am a Ph.D. student in political science. Since my thesis work is pretty flexible, I mostly work from the Helsinki university’s library or from home, so I can move pretty flexibly and meet with our potential guests from Couchsurfing!

Besides my work, I am quite interested in traveling, hitchhiking (which I used to do more, but don’t have the time anymore), and reading a punch of different stuff from the highest high fantasy to the incredibly mundane non-fiction literature. I like to think myself as a openminded person who always first assumes that strangers are just nice people you don’t know yet rather than scam artists who just want to steal your money. That’s all from me folks."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m couchsurfing because I want to meet local people. The locals are always the specialists of their own culture. I’m curious and I want to meet people all around the world and share interesting stories. Everyone's story is unique!

Also, been a surfer and now it's my time to host others! Trying to stay at least one year in Finland, and now we're welcoming travellers to our cozy home with my boyfriend. Our work situation keeps us at home now, so please help to bring the world to us.
