ABOUT ME

My name is Sylvia, and I always have the hardest time answering this question. So many images come to mind, and it's hard for me to choose one. I had to save this question for last. I don't know what to write right now, so I'll do this part another day.

PHILOSOPHY

My mission is to enjoy the now. Maybe it's a cliché now, but savoring the present moment is the most important thing for me to appreciate the very essence of life and being alive.
I love the moments, maybe after traveling all day or climbing a mountain, or running as far as possible, when I am so withdrawn inside myself and simultaneously so connected to a thought or a part of the world I've never known before, that it's almost as if all thinking stops. All that exists is the world and the moment. I look for moments like these.
I also enjoy the times, such as a great conversation, book, or movie, when my senses are heightened and my awareness elevated. When my mind churns with new ideas, connecting new parts of itself. I strive for the whir and the blur of life experience.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

New to couch surfing! Did it with a good friend and had a great time! Now I want to go to more places and see new things, and hopefully one day have a couch of my own to give.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed with my good friend in Northern Portugal. It was a blast, and I learned about places from a point of view that I can't find on the internet or in a guide book. The type of authentic experience is so hard to find when traveling to place to place. Couchsurfing is such an amazing way to connect with people from so many different walks of life.

Geez, I'm just gonna write a list of things that start coming to my head.

Travel, food, laughter, friends, waterfalls, exercise, physiology, how to make curry, new music, archaeology, Who's Line is it Anyway, playing guitar, playing with kids, reading body language, surrealism, finding truths/debunking urban myths, world history, sandcastle building, ecological farming techniques, entrepreneurship, learning more about photography, architecture, etc.

Musica, film e libri

I go from Metal to Yo-Yo Ma. I like food equally spiced.
Movies need to make me cry, think or laugh. Preferably all three. Those are the good ones.
I hate books that were written to please me. I want to read something inspiring or agonizing. Preferably with lots of character development. I avoid archetypes.
