About Me
Helloooo..:-) My name is Sylvie. I'm a French native. I grew up in the Parisian suburb and completed my education in Paris. In my early 20's, I emigrated to the US where I spent over 25 years in beautiful Colorado. I have 2 grown-up children, both living in Denver. I'm a teacher for the Alliance Francaise of Denver, and I love my job! I also love traveling, learning about other cultures, and making new friends. A couple years ago, I decided to switch to online teaching and to become a digital nomad to start exploring the world. So far, I've been to India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia. I am currently in Australia and loving it! I'm also passionate about yoga. I meditate and practice every day. In addition, I love taking long walks in Nature, reading, cooking (vegan), painting, and making cups and bowls on the potter's wheel.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Being a digital nomad can be a bit lonely sometimes. I'm a slow-moving nomad, and I enjoy staying in the same place for a while to get a good feel for the area. Depending on the country, I try to find pet-sitting assignments (I'm a member of a well-known pet-sitting website). It gives me the opportunity to take a break from hotels, and restaurants food. I get to stay in beautiful houses where I can cook and be surrounded by furry companions. While I like being by myself, I also enjoy talking to other humans and making new friends everywhere I go.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like pretty much all kind of music from classical, folk, to blues and rock. I listen to Krishna Das, Bob Dylan, and also to Coldplay and the Weeknd.
My favorite movies are mostly of the non-violent kind. I love Finding Nemo and Shrek! I also enjoy series like Schitts Creek, Parks and Rec, and period movies.
I read a lot. My favorite international authors would have to be Paulo Coelho (the Alchemist, Brida) and Jean-Cristophe Rufin (Brazil Red, the Abyssinian).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
After I completed my studies, I decided to take a year off doing volunteer work. My first mission took me to London, England, where I spend 6 months working as a full-time volunteer in an emergency shelter for homeless people. My second mission took place in a native community about 100 km north of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories of Canada.
Teach, Learn, Share
I teach French and can help learners with conversation skills.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my good spirits, kindness, empathy and a nice conversation in English or in French..:-)
