I was born in Kyoto prefecture 1976.
My grand mothers home was a Geisya (actually Geiko and Maiko ) house in Kyoto city so I know traditional Kyoto culture well. Then I can speak and understand traditional Kyoto language better than younger Geisya. It is bit different from ordinary Japanese languages.

After high school graduation, I am living in Osaka for my college then as working base for these 20years..
I have a lot of chance to visit domestic other districts for my jobs. I usually visit Kobe, Kyoto, Shikoku island, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Yokohama, Tokyo, and Sendai for my jobs by using car, bus, local trains, Shinkansen trains, and Air flights on every month. You guys can ask to me about transport.

I had marriage with Japanese woman so I can't accept guests everyday now but I still love to trip alone foreign countries then I still usually become backpacker at foreign countries.
So just I wanna help others because I believe it will be back to myself later, in future, when I go to foreign countries. I am not talking about "give and take". It is just a life imagination issue.

Actually I know Japan, everything was (is) pricey for backpackers than other Asian places.
It has been decreasing almost same as some European places but not enough yet for backpackers, I guess.

I trust exactly japan is nice country to visit. There are many things to see, season by season, place by place. Beautiful sights and a specialty about history, traditional cultures and subcultures.
I wish you have fun even if you don't have much budget.

I know many tips for discounting ;although sometimes the paying let you have fun, and I can tell you it.

Islay single malt are also good but not cheap.
Japanese Yoichi became pricey and taste had been changed....
