ABOUT ME

Hey there,

My name is Jamie and I’m 31. I'm from Taiwan, but I'm now working in Suzhou, China. I quit my job as a secretary of Gerontechnology Research Center at the end of January 2014 for pursuing my dream, which is traveling around the world. Since then, I spent a year in Australia, a month in New Zealand and half year in Europe working in wineries and vineyard to learn more about the wine. I had spent a year living in Chengdu working in wine Industry also.
My biggest goal is to experience all kinds of new things. So if we are both visiting in the same city, I´d love to hang out and have some fun time together.

PHILOSOPHY

For some people, a successful life means having a secure job, family and house. But to me, it's all about living in the moment. "No day but today!" Do what makes you happy. Last but not least, share love to the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think CS is a brilliant way to meet people from different countries, though I'm just a beginner.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed in some European countries during my trip in my 20s. I’m 30+ now but finally I settled down in Suzhou and have a place to become a host. I hope I can extend the warmth that I received when I’m a guest.

Interests

I have a lot of interest such as reading, music, and movies. I love outdoor activities very much, something like horse riding or scuba diving (although I'm not really good at it...) And yes, I would like to try extreme sports, such as skydiving. Also likes to go to bars to chill out and have fun.

Music, Movies, and Books

As to favorite music, it depends a lot on current moods and situations. But I think I listen to jazz most the time. Also I'm interested in indie band. There are quite great indie bands I love in Taiwan.

For books, I love literature and geography the best. My favorite author is a popular Taiwanese author - Echo (1943-1991), who is also known as "San Mao". San Mao is famous in 70s to 80s in Taiwan. In 1974 she went to the Colonial Spanish Sahara desert and began to write a series of books like "The Stories of the Sahara", "Gone With the Rainy Season". Her experience inspired me to go on a long trip to world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sky diving in Australia!
Nevis Swing in Queenstown!
Scuba diving in Great Barrier Reef!
4 days 100+km horse riding in Inner Mongolia!
On my trip along to Guangxi, China. I traveled to a Dong Village which locates in Sanjiang City. It was a trip with no advance planning and it was quite unexpectedly also. But it turned out that I was the only tourist participated in their daily life for those days. I had some "childhood days" with the Dong kids and had great interaction with the villager.

Teach, Learn, Share

Chinese, of course. I'm learning to do Chinese dishes, I can cook for you if you like. I am learning guitar as well.
