About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Filling up the A to Z of places I dream of going

ABOUT ME

I come from a very small country and that always reminds me that the world is so so immense and diverse! I love listening to the adventures and life stories of ppl I met cos that somehow always humbles and inspires me at the same time.

Maybe I am an 'existential migrant' who seeks the basics of existence by leaving the homeland and exploring the world. I wanna keep on travelling forever not because I don't like home, but I feel at home elsewhere too. Perhaps we can understand ourselves and our native culture a little better from the outside.

I've said goodbye to my twenties but still feel like a teenager at times - restless. I've been a vegetarian for almost 10 yrs. I believe in animals' rights but not exactly tree-hugging. I try to reduce my carbon footprint, unfortunately I can't seem to quit travelling.

Would love to experience live music from all over the world. Most recent one was the Fleet Foxes gig in Madrid.

PHILOSOPHY

Never take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. Live the Life. And live it your way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Met many backpackers who couchsurf and host. They have learn from and taught fellow travellers stuff they can never learn from taking the well trodden paths.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just started surfing and my first experience got me excited over the next one.

Interests

I am into documentary photography as it helps me look for connection between what I see and what I don't. Here's my first series published on the online urban culture journal, Polar Inertia. http://www.polarinertia.com/dec09/malacca01.htm

My random shots are posted here http://www.flickr.com/photos/princesswt/

Like hiking for the awesome views and fresh air.

Always game for great coffee and beer (doesn't matter morning and/or night).

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently into Fleet Foxes, Electric President, Deathcab for Cutie, The field, Kimya Dawson, Explosion in the Sky, Mono, Envy (Japan), Young Galaxy, Bombay Bicycle Club, Flight of the Conchords, Lykke Li....
Been in love since a long time ago: Belle & Sebastian, Joy Division, Puressence, Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers, Yo la Tengo, Sonic Youth. I listen to anything from symphonic black metal and electronic to classical.

Movies & Books.....too many to name (even the favourites). Tend to watch lotsa Spanish films (latest one is "talk to her" by Almodovar). Rewatched Wong Kar Wai's & Tsai Ming Liang's movies countless times. Tendency to fall in love with movies for the soundtrack. Always love a book or movie that makes me think hard.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Some most memorable moments came from travelling with free spirited backpackers whom I've met along the way. Making friends with local ppl on the train and getting invited to their house for beer and bbq party in Dandong, China (they took pains to find vegetables for me despite thinking I'm mad not to eat meat). Making friends with great & talented people from Gili Air Island, joining them in their jam sessions and listening to their original works about their beloved Gili.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can speak Mandarin fluently as well so I can help you with a few useful phrases.

Hope to learn Spanish since I watch lotsa Spanish language movies.

Trying to learn the ukulele so I definitely welcome anyone who can show me how to play it properly.

Countries I’ve Visited
