ABOUT ME

All about us: We have been together for just over three years and we are backpacking around the world together.

All about T:
I am an ambitious 24 year old who loves living in the now but also has big plans for the future. I have two sides to me depending on the situation I am in; one that is a fun loving spontaneous party guy whose main goal is to laugh. The other side loves a bit of quiet time to sit down to read & discuss deep subjects. I have a child-like enthusiasm for the natural world and want to figure everything out. I am greedy for knowledge and I wish I could digest whole books as quick as a meal. A KFC meal; tasty and gone within 20 minutes. With gravy. Mm.

All about Laura:
I am 21 years old just graduated in Event Management and excited to finally escape academia and travel the world; meeting new people, exploring new cultures and seeing amazing places before the real world begins. I am somewhat similar to my partner in crime above- in having two contrasting sides. On one I can be a fun party animal wanting to dance the night away and have a good laugh with friends. On the other I can spend hours chatting about more serious issues, or alone listening to music, or in the kitchen (hopefully) cooking up something yummy in order to enjoy it later over a bottle of wine and some good conversation.

PHILOSOPHY

T:

You only get one life so enjoy it. I believe that curiosity is the greatest trait you can let yourself open to. Be curious; ask questions. Explore the world, others and yourself. Be optimistic and enjoy yourself.

Laura:
''You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You are the one who'll decide where to go''. Based on that quote I think life is what you make it so I intend on making it a good one :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have joined CS on 13th August 2011 looking for couches in Australia from August 22nd. We intend to return the favour when we finish travelling.

Interests

T's interests:
I enjoy reading & writing. I am passionate on all things science and the deep questions of life. To counter this I am also very interested in going out and drinking lots of shots and dancing like a goof.

Laura's interests:
I have a strong love for food and cooking, followed closely by music and dance (on a night out I will always be found in the middle of the dancefloor). Other interests include travel, socialising, films and reading.

Music, Movies, and Books

T:
Movies - I love comedy movies but a small taste of my all time favs would include The Matrix, Eternal Sunshine, Fight Club, Anchorman. Tv shows: the Peep Show, the Office, Family Guy, Alan Partridge.

Books: I read almost exclusively non fiction. I have my Kindle e-reader loaded up with around 100 books for my continuing travels. Categories include Travel, Evolutionary Biology, Business, Astronomy, Physics, Psychology, Philosophy, & the classics.

Laura:
Music- my music taste vary quite alot and Im open to most but my main love is RnB.

Films- Typically im a sucker for chick-flicks but I also love comedies and all the epic classics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

T:
Camping out under the stars in both Monument Valley & the Grand Canyon in America with a glass of whiskey, looking up at the star filled sky with the Milky Way reaching across. Amazing.

Laura:
Working my ass off for the last year to get a 1st in every assignment in order to turn my degree from a 2:1 to a lovely first class honours! However as amazing and hard work as that achievement was Im hoping by next year this box will be filled with something more exciting like Mr T up there (definately not jealous).

Teach, Learn, Share

T:
I have some knowledge in various sciences; my strongest subject being Evolutionary Biology. I can recommend many great books in many areas of science.
I have quite a bit of experience in travelling USA, Cook Islands, & Fiji including living in hostels and the general life of a backpacker.

Laura:
Cooking is my main skill (although I am mainly self taught so im eager to learn from others aswel) I have a few specialities that I would be happy to share if your interested. Also having just completed my degree any academic work I will happily try to help with. Or if you just need a dancing partner- Im there :)
