About Me
Hi there!
My name is Tabea, I am 23 years old. I love music, books, nature, photography, writing, illustration, design, minimalism, sustainability, polar bears, people who stay soft in a harsh world, languages and quantum physics.
I'm usually a calm person who prefers to have an interesting conversation over hanging out in clubs, but if I‘m in the mood and everyone‘s in, I can go wild from time to time.
When it comes to travelling, I love adventure and being faaaaaar away from everything I know, I cycled through Scandinavia for three months, learned how to mountaineer and climb on ice, trained to be a trekking guide in the arctic, and spontaneously decided to hitchhike through Egypt and Sudan during the Sudanese Revolution.
When I‘m not travelling, I study psychology (because I love maths and neuroscience and social sciences and philosophy and psychology is a mix of all of those) and work as an author/illustrator. I hope to work as a journalist/writer one day, or as a therapist with an organization like doctors without borders.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think the most valuable experiences cannot be found at tourist attractions but in conversations with those you meet on your way.

Music, Movies, and Books
I basically love any kind of music, but especially Leonard Cohen, Schubert, Nick Cave, Radiohead, Bon Iver and Grizzly Bear.
As for films, I like classics like 2001: A Space Odyssey, I also love Never Let Me Go and Still Life, and my favourite series is BoJack Horseman.
I think my favourite books are The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt and The Stranger by Albert Camus but there are many other great books...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swimming in the arctic ocean at midnight is something I'll never forget!
Teach, Learn, Share
Of course I can always help if you are trying to learn German :)
I also know weirdly much about neurodivergence, dissociation, and knocker-uppers (if you ever wondered who knocked up the knocker-uppers, I‘m your gal!)
I‘m good at reading bad handwriting, folding tiny boats out of paper and a very specific strategy game I would love to share with you.
