À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

Adventures! Connect, learn from people. I want to hear inspiring stories, lifechanging events, passion. I want to be swept away by the look of nature, of the world. Most of all I just want to laugh untill I cry :-)

ABOUT ME

I've just hitchiked throughout the South Island, now I'm hitchiking thoughout the North Island.

"Out of the comfortzone is where the magic happens". This has become my motto in the last two years of my life. Leaving behind everything that is familiair, the friends that I love dearly, the job I was passionate about and succesfull in. And I didn't do that once, no I did that three times.

First time was back in Holland, almost 4 years ago, moving from the region where I grew up, where I went to college, where I worked with children and adolescents with behavioral problems, where I had a great circle of friends. Where I had a relationship.
I moved to the west, started working in a bar and created a new life, new happiness, with the support of my friends back home.

When you leave everything behind and meet new people, do different kind of work, then you get to know yourself again. Honest, open, positive, easygoing, creative, loyal, passionate, funny, smiling. Living life intensely. Enjoying the small stuff.
I started singing again, jamming away in the blues. Until I found myself too happy to sing the blues. Letting everything go made me realise I was finally ready to full fill my child's dream: travelling.

So here I am, finally in New Zealand.
My travels started 2 years ago. After 3 months in Thailand, Koh Tao, where I did my open water till Divemaster courses, I arrived jun 2012 in Sydney, Australia, for a year of working and holiday Visa. I've worked as a waitress and divemaster at the East Coast.

After that I went back to the netherlands for 7 months.
October 2013 I traveled to New Zealand where I was a horse therapy trainee in Otaki, Wellington, for 2 months.
I've worked as a manager at Bunkers Backpackers at Stewart island for 2months, then traveled all trough the south island, and now I'm at the Nort Island.

I don't make plans, I go with the flow, follow my intuition. And I hope that will bring me to your couch!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is about learning, growing and enjoying. And that can only happen if I'm truly honest to myself and to others, and let others be honest to me. Positive thinking is the road to happiness.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I met a backpacker a year ago and I offered him my home for a week. I've learned so much from him. He was a big inspiration for my traveling. He introduced me to CS.
I'm still very new to this though...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with the uncle of a collegue of mine, and at a friends place. 2 years ago, in The Hague, I was serving two guys, they are a couple and it was their last day in Holland. We connected immediately and now, 2 years further, we met again, and it's awesome! I've made friends for life.
Right now I'm spending time in hostels, and I have also met some people through the website with meetings.
But can't wait to have my first real CS experience.

Centres d'intérêt

People are my passion. I love to observe them, get to know them, learn from them, talking hours and hours, feel connected, most of all, laugh with them!
I love to see people participating in their biggest passion. I love live music. I love singing, and jamming, and feel the energy of the band.
And then off course diving, islands and boats.
Besides that I love hiking, movie's, drink a nice glass of wine (or two ;-)

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I like to be swept away by any form of cultural expression. For some strange reason I like depressive music and films. I like to feel!

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I did 180 dives.
There is another planet on this world and I am so blessed I got to know even the tiniest part of it. Nudibranches, whaleshark, white sharks, turtles. I've seen these creatures in their natural habitat.
I've been working with horses now and they are just amazing, so sensitive!

As well leopards, elephants, monkey's hyena's and more that I saw in Kruger Park.
I love to do things where I can really feel my body and work with that.

Also very cool was the 7 hour hike in Drakensberge in South Africe, with my brother and one of my best friends. We thought we were gonna die, when Lightning was everywhere!

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I see the people that I meet as angels. Even if they're in my life for a small period of time, they teach me life long lessons.
I'm trying to learn to take life as it comes, to be open to all people, not to judge because of my own insecurity. I want to live my life passionately, not be distracted by what others think.

I need other people to inspire me, so that I can find my goal in life. For years that was being a child psychologist, but now I'm searching for something else.
