I am a mom of six, a wife of one and a teacher at that! :) My husband and I celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary this September!! My kids and I have been able to travel sometimes very unconventionally because as Mark Twain said it best, "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.” Why bother with summer abroad programs in college when a mom can travel with her high schooler and learn how to live!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A group of 25 teachers and 80 high school students throughout the US were recruited by a longtime foreign exchange program in China which was creating a new cultural exchange program (only three years in the making) in which "America" could come to China by way of teachers and students. As I was helping my son apply, I realized that I was the one who should be going! :) We were both accepted and in exchange for teaching, all costs were paid, but more importantly we stayed with those same students' families. We loved being a part of something so big and so intimate and learned much from the people of China. This was before the pandemic during the summer of 2019. One of the best teachers in the program made me aware of couch surfing. I would have loved to be apart of this back in the day. I am just now sending that same son off to college--the US Naval Academy--and I would like to visit him. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Just sent one of our family's favorite real-aloud book's called Seed Folks to a close friend in the mail. Even the title is genius. :)

Music is to make people happy so we do a lot of it in our family. My husband is the singer and I am the manager and task master and ALL the kids play piano.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Raising a family with my husband....a ballet dancer, a midshipman, a basketball player, an actress and two little boys who make me question everyday if I can finish what I started.

Teach, Learn, Share

I bought a pair of socks with a rocket ship for my graduating son that said, "Headed to my next mistake." Love anyone with "skin in the game."
